Greg, it has often been written that to a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail. This allegory is used to illustrate the concept of cognitive bias and the tendency to approach every problem or situation with the same limited set of tools or solutions. It suggests that people may be inclined to apply familiar or habitual methods to explain away problems even when these methods are not the most appropriate. In essence, it works to bolster narrow mindedness that can result from over relying on a given set of beliefs.

I try my best to provide this forum with quantifiable facts from reputable sources. I may be wrong, but I don’t believe I have ever attributed said facts to any president of any party. In fact, I have stated on many occasions an American president yields little power over major economic issues. World economics plays a significant role in what we pay for gasoline, major interruptions in supply chains effect the price we pay at the store, and wars and/or unexpected pandemics can cause markets to go up and down much faster and certainly more violently than anything a president can do. And, under our constitution, congress, and more specifically the House of Representative, is tasked with determining how America spends its monies. While a president might issue an executive order to make a short term needed correction or to provide temporary economic relief, congress and even the courts have the final say over whether any such executive order can stand.

During America’s first one hundred and thirty-five years in existence its economy saw numerous violent swings both up and down. Major banks failed, farmers were forced into bankruptcy on many an occasion, and numerous US industries failed due to economic conditions beyond their control. When these things happened the American public looked to their government to determine what economic remedies were needed to right the ship, but in most cases what needed to happen was so radical that elected representatives continuously failed to implement the necessary changes in fear they would become unelectable. It was for that reason that in 1913 Congress created the Federal Reserve Act. As was originally chartered, and right up to today, the Federal Reserve reports to Congress, not the President. That is why the Chair of the Federal Reserve is required to report to the House of Representatives twice a year and more often if summoned. By setting up the Federal Reserve our elected representatives were able to tell their constituents “hey, its not us that is making these unpopular changes, it’s that nasty old Fed board.” Then when the Fed’s actions garnered the desired effect, Congress can take the credit.

So, what does all this mean and why am I posting this reply to your recent response? Because I believe you and most of the other Trump loving, Biden hating contributors to this forum would rather wield you hammers at anyone you believe has a different understanding of the facts and resort to calling anyone who does not align themselves with the Freedom Caucus a liberal, Marxist, communist, socialist, scum of the earth, before you will take even a minute of your time to research facts and educate yourselves to what is actually going on in the world around you.

And that is sad.

Make America Great Again send Biden home. I see Biden as just being too old; and for what he has done not surprising.  Yes Trump is too old; he needs to go home. Im in favor of Israel doing what it has too in order to survive...What was done to her people wasn't  war it was beyond cruel, beyond hatred and im sure they will try it here if they are one of the many who have made it into our boarder.  Actions I would prefer would be drug smuglers would be shot dead when found with drugs....each and every drug could kill...

Dennis

I like Nicki. .Best in the race so far.

Good point Richard name calling label makiing is where we are...Im guilty, and would like to get away from the labels but, the idea of saying liberal has won me over.  We have many reasons for who and what policys we support and so be it.

You know Richard, I expected the kind of condescending response from you about my post. I gave you another chance to show everyone on this message board, how you can write so eloquently. And I knew beforehand that you would disagree with my position and comments. Nevertheless, I look at timelines. I know where this country was before Biden and I know where we are today. Biden and his crew have made a mockery of the Presidency starting with his mental state. His cabinet is a team of lack luster incompetent election supporter appointments starting with Myorkas and Garland. I base this on my observations and personal impact on my finances and living standards today.

12/16/23 04:06 PM #11757

Mike Lorts

Greg,

"Biden and his crew have made a mockery of the presidency ". Did if ever cross your mind while you were writing this sentence that you were describing Trump's presidency.

12/16/23 04:15 PM #11758

Richard Deshong

Greg, glad you noticed the condescending tone of my post. I am always trying to find ways to give as good as I get, so hopefully as you read other posts in the future you will take the time to point out when others also use a condescending tone. And thank you for the complement on my writing style. I try to keep it at a twelfth-grade level or below so as not to confuse some of the less educated among us (more condescending?). Being like me, an ASU graduate, I am sure you don’t have any problems reading between the lines of my posts.

Just out of curiosity, can you let me know where you think America was before Biden? I keep hearing about all the remarkable things Trump did during his four years in office, but I just have a challenging time understanding how he takes credit for some things that went well, but dodges others that didn’t. For example:

He takes credit for turning the Supreme Court into a more conservative body. But Mitch McConnell and the Federalist Society had been working since 1991 to accomplish that goal and it wouldn’t have happened at all if Mitch hadn’t denied Obama his right to appoint a replacement for Justice Kennedy and then rushing through the appointment of Justice Ginsburg’s replacement in record time before Trump left office. Whether or not it is a good thing we have the most conservative Supreme court in ninety years, I just don’t see how Trump should be given the credit for something which others made happen.

Under Trump a new branch of the military was formed – the Space Force. It’s not like everything the Space Force does wasn’t happening anyway, it’s just that now we have a new branch of the service with all its associated overhead and duplication of effort. The army, navy and air force still retain the funding and developing of the same weapon systems and, yet nobody seems to know who has responsibility for cyber threats. Was this a great accomplishment?

Under Trump America got the biggest tax reduction in history. Here’s an interesting statistic. Since 2000 Republican presidents have overseen $5.1T (that’s trillion) in tax cuts, two thirds of which has been realized by the riches fifth of all Americans. And the accumulated effect of these cuts has been to add $5.9T to the federal deficit. So, Greg, when it comes to your personal finances and living standards, how’s that trickledown economics working out?

Under Trump the First Step Act was passed reducing the penalties for many drug offenses, reducing mandatory prison sentences, and other reforms to the criminal justice system. Funny thing though, this act was not at all popular with republicans in either house of congress and only got passed when a group of democratic members formed bipartisan committees to get it past dissenting conservatives. But hey, a win is a win.

As for the effectiveness of cabinet appointees, don’t even get me started on the revolving door of appointees under Trump.

I think by now you must get my drift. Trump was exceptionally good at taking credit for things others accomplished but was almost a total failure when it came to things he said he was going to accomplish when he ran for office. So, please enlighten me on exactly why you think things were better before Biden. I look forward to responding to your list, or anyone else’s list. In the meantime, how’s the value of your house in Flagstaff doing? Or have you reviewed your portfolio recently? Mine is looking better than it did three years ago. I’m not saying Biden has anything to do with the current up tic, just like I don’t think Trump had anything to do with the up turn he inherited when he came to office in 2016.

Deshong- Once again you support my theory that lefties often accuse conservatives of the very same thing they have done or are doing.  When you posted the remark that

“. . . calling anyone who does not align themselves with the Freedom Caucus a liberal, Marxist, communist, socialist, scum of the earth . . .”,

one could easily insert the labels used by some lefties on this site and elsewhere with labels like racists, fascists, homophobes, xenophobes, misogynists, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, maga trumpies, etc., etc. etc.

I wonder if you have ever labeled anybody with one or more of those labels.

No, I haven't left the forum again. I keep reading the posts, and I see nothing new. It's Democrats slamming Republicans and Republicans slamming Democrats. HO-HUM! Meanwhile, back in the real world, unabated crime keeps growing; Millions of criminals, insane people, and terrorists are flooding what used to be our border, bringing all the fentanyl they can carry thanks to the Biden border policies in cahoots with the cartels. I wonder, sometimes, if the chemicals China is sending to the cartels aren't being smuggled into the US and if Fentanyl is being manufactured here/. Has anyone ever thought of that? And the war continues in the Middle East, with Biden saying he supports Israel while at the same time calling for another cease-fire while sending money to Iran to help support Humas. The House of Representatives is moving along with gathering reams of evidence against the Biden crime family. Of course, the Dems are still saying there is "NO EVIDENCE". Just like they said there is no evidence of cheating in the 2020 election. They claim that Jan. 6, 2021, was an insurrection and worse than Pearl Harbor and 9/11/01. It's strange that the Capital was giving guided tours of the Capital building on such a violent day. And here at home, the leftist courts are continuing to interfere with next year's election by bringing false charges against Republican candidates. And now they are even going after Rudy Guliani. So, if you don't mind, I will only comment on the real world.

A couple areas Trump was better (and will be better) than Biden.  According to the Border Patrol the Border was more secure than it had ever been.  Biden not only allowed millions of Illegals to cross the border but when he took office he encouraged it.  He announced that the border was open.  A couple hundred of those who have crossed are even on the "Terror Watch List"!!  These illegals children are stressing our education system and also the sick illegals are stressing our hospitals.  And just ask the sanctuary cities if these illegals are stressing their economies.  Even Arizona, which is not a sanctuary state is under so much stress that Democrat Katie Hobbs has to send the National Guard!!  The FBI Director, testifying to the Senate about dangers to our Country said there were flashing lights everywhere and specifically mentioned the border.--Secondly, Did Putin's army invade Ukraine when Trump was President??  That invasion has cost Our Country Billions!!  Thank God Our Country hasn't lost any Active Duty American Troops (that we know of anyway).  I have many more after those get covered.

Lorts and Deshong, correct me if you can, the Trump tax cut actually added significant tax revenues due to the business expansion of companies and personal spending by hard working employed Americans. Liberals are very good at placing blame without ever accepting any responsibility for their actions. So you two can bloviate all you want, continue to laud Biden and his policies and I will go about my business without concern for your liberal views. Nothing you have stated has changed my thoughts or beliefs.

12/17/23 11:43 AM #11764

Bill, really? With everything I wrote the best you can do is "I'm rubber and you're glue, anything you say bounces off of me and sticks to you". With your degree in economics and an MBA I would think you might have wanted to comment on my words questioning a president's ability to have a meaningful impact on America's economy. You know, have an adult conversation.

I challenge you to find a single post in which I used any of the names you accuse me of using. If you want to make such an accusation maybe I should associate you with the file rhetoric used by Mike W.

Greg, after the Trump tax cuts went into effect corporate profits skyrocketed, executive pay packages hit all time highs, and stock buy backs surged which had the net effect of further increasing the value of executive stock options. Now can you let us know how you personally benefited?

Earl Harris III

Greetings!

During the several weeks I spent sidelining myself from participation on this Message Forum, I spent time reading some great books, watching wonderful movies, seeing some delightful local plays, fly fishing and riding my recumbent trike. It's been especially nice reuniting with my best friend and wife, Cindy, who returned from a successful six-week hike on the Camino Levante across much of Spain.

It’s important for me to remind myself and others, too, that we all are now closer to 80 than 70. It is sad, but true, that as many as half of Camelback’s 1965 graduating class will not be here in ten years.

It is my hope for all gathered here on this site to present and debate issues that we interact with one another with as much love, grace and goodwill as we can possibly manage. Chances are you won't get that chance again in some afterlife, however  you choose to think of it.

Katie Baribeau,

I have enjoyed reading all of your posts. Over the past few weeks and months since “drawing the short straw” you have successfully managed to add a counter-weight to the dominate right-wing offerings that had populated these pages on a daily basis. You inspired me and several other left-leaning thinkers to follow your lead. We’ll be looking forward to your return after the New Year!

It’s great to see that you’ve chosen to take some time off to be with your family over the holidays. Like you and many others who choose to read and post on this message forum, I find myself now at at the “head of the train” wanting to spend more quality time with our adult children and grandkids.

Richard Deshong,

Your posts are filled with first-rate research and fact-based opinions that continue to amaze and challenge me to think more deeply about the many critical and often highly complex issues and problems of our time. Thanks for sharing with us, especially when it comes to debunking conspiracy theories, misinformation, and untruths. You may get under the skin of some, but that’s not a bad thing. You can expect to be attacked, unfairly. There is ample evidence of this for everyone to see. Many on this message board are hardcore black-and-white thinkers with authoritarian tendencies. But, like the late John Lewis, it may be necessary to stir up “good trouble” from time to time.

All of us could benefit from the exploration of difficult topics with an open mind backed by as much factual research as possible. Doing so can lead to better understanding and open up avenues for meaningful discourse with others with whom we disagree.

Mike Lorts,

As many have pointed out, you are a man of few words. But, the words you speak are powerful and carry much weight. Thanks for continuing to offer left-leaning words of wisdom. Like Katie, your short entries offer a counter-balance to the many on the right, especially those who choose to communicate in all-caps and bold-lettered bumper sticker slogans.

You seem to be a person quite comfortable in your own skin, Mike. You're continuing to have a big impact, speaking simple truths. Onward, my Don Quixote!

Mary Powers(Evens),

You and I share a common understanding about the role of media in today’s world. The sources of media bias reporting that you and I have highlighted in the past are an important way to check on the reliability of news reports and opinions. Thank you for joining the forum.

I think it’s important that people understand the closed loop they may be trapped in when they choose to read only from sources that comport with their already predisposed beliefs. We’re all guilty of this to a degree. I have openly admitted my biases when choosing centrist and left-leaning TV, Internet and print material. But, I do turn the channel to Fox News occasionally to see how this rival cable network presents its news.

I’ve even watched OAN and Newsmax, on the advice and counsel of my youngest brother, a Trump devotee and MAGA member of the far-right. I also continually come across and read conservative news sources, some admittedly helpful, but others containing misleading information, half-truths, or worse, aggressively promulgating patently false propaganda.

It’s important to do so. Why? Because the news covered is not often the same and what is reported reflects the bias of its viewers and readers for the most part. We seem to be living on different planets, if not in different galaxies. Shocking as this realization has been for me, I think it pays to listen to how others different from me choose to view the world. It may do little more than challenge my beliefs, but it is worth to listen and reflect.

Regardless whether you consider yourself a Trump supporter, a MAGA member, a strong Conservative or a traditional Republican, I urge you to spend some time watching PBS, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, BBC or the like. If you're not in the habit of already doing, so, try reading straight news reports from the AP or Reuters. Read the Washington Post, the New York Times or some other centrist or left leaning newspapers from time to time. Take a look at Al Jazeera, the Peabody Award winning Arab news outlet based in Qatar, if you dare.

If only one wish this holiday season could be granted me regarding postings on this message forum, it would be that people be more widely read seekers of fact-based truth, and to the degree humanly possible, that views, beliefs, opinions and advice be given with the greatest degree of humility and civility we can muster.

Admittedly, it would be hard to do, but it’s possible.

To Larry Johnson, Geneva Keith(Ulm), Bill Bonfield, David Rainwater and part-time contributors, it would be great to see you posting more often!

To others who may occasionally read posts, but who have stopped posting due to personal reasons, please give some thought to returning regardless of your personal, ideological or political leanings or affiliations. While this alumni sharing site has become quite political, if you have an interest in contributing stories about your high school days at Camelback or wish to share aspects of your life story as it’s developed over these ensuing years, please do! Many of us would enjoy learning about where life has taken you.

Best to all! I will continue to read all posts on this forum. Most impressive are those that are mostly informative, fact-based and devoid of cruelty directed at others.

Tina Griego is a Free-Lance reporter for the Denver Post. She writes some really good stuff and she is a strong advocate for LEGAL Immigration

What if they left?

What if 20 Million Illegal Aliens Vacated America? I, Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News have written a column titled, "Mexican Visitors' Lament.”

I interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, "Illegal aliens pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes. What happens to your country's economy if 20 million people go away?”

Hmmm, I thought, what would happen?

So I did my due diligence, buried my nose as a reporter into the FACTS I found below. It's a good question...it deserves an honest answer.

Over 80% of Americans demand secured borders. What would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America? This may surprise you!

In California, if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico, it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupt hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested. Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominant language again.

It means 12,000 gang members would vanish out of Denver alone. Colorado would save more than $20 million in prison costs, and the terror that those 7,300 alien criminals set upon local citizens. Denver Officer Don Young and hundreds of Colorado victims would not have suffered death, accidents, rapes and other crimes by illegals.

Denver Public Schools would not suffer a 67% dropout/flunk rate because of thousands of illegal alien students speaking 41 different languages. Denver's 4% unemployment rate would vanish as our working poor would gain jobs at a living wage.

In Chicago, Illinois, 2.1 million illegals would free up hospitals, schools, prisons and highways for a safer, cleaner and more crime-free experience.

If 20 million illegal aliens returned 'home,' the U.S. economy would return to the Rule of Law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage.

Everyone would pay their fair share of taxes because they wouldn't be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local, state and city coffers.

No more confusion in American schools that now must contend with over 100 languages that degrade the educational system for American kids.

Our overcrowded schools would lose more than two million illegal alien kids at a cost of billions in ESL and free breakfasts and lunches.

We would lose 500,000 illegal criminal alien inmates at a cost of more than $1.6 billion annually. That includes 15,000 MS-13 gang members who distribute $130 billion in drugs annually and would vacate our country.

In cities like L.A., 20,000 members of the '18th Street Gang' would vanish from our nation. No more Mexican forgery gangs for ID theft from Americans! No more foreign rapists and child molesters!

America's economy is drained. Taxpayers are harmed. Employers get rich. Over $80 billion annually wouldn't return to the aliens' home countries by cash transfers. Illegal migrants earned half that money untaxed, which further drains America's economy which currently suffers a $30 trillion debt.

More than $30 TRILLION !!

At least 400,000 anchor babies would not be born in our country, costing us $109 billion per year per cycle. At least 86 hospitals in California, Georgia and Florida would still be operating instead of being bankrupt out of existence because illegals pay nothing via the EMTOLA Act.

Americans wouldn't suffer thousands of TB and hepatitis cases rampant in our country - brought in by illegals unscreened at our borders. Our cities would see 20 million less people driving, polluting and grid locking our cities' greenhouse gasses.

Over one million of Mexico's poorest citizens now live inside and along our border from Brownsville, Texas, to San Diego, California, in what the New York Times called, 'colonias' or new neighborhoods. Trouble is, those living areas resemble Bombay and Calcutta where grinding poverty, filth, diseases, drugs, crimes, no sanitation and worse. They live without sewage, clean water, streets, roads, electricity, or any kind of sanitation.

The New York Times reported them to be America's new ' Third World ' inside our own country. Within 20 years, at their current growth rate, they expect 20 million residents of those colonias. (I've seen them personally in Texas and Arizona; it's sickening beyond anything you can imagine.)

We already invite a million people into our country legally/annually, more than all other countries combined- with growing anarchy at our borders.

It's time to stand up for our country, our culture, our civilization and our way of life. Interesting statistics below!

Here are 13 reasons illegal aliens should vacate America, and I hope they are forwarded over and over again until they are read so many times that the reader gets sick of reading them:

1. $14 billion to $22 billion dollars are spent each year on welfare to illegal aliens (that's Billion with a 'B’)

2. $7.5 billion dollars are spent each year on Medicaid for illegal aliens.

3. $12 billion dollars are spent each year on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they still cannot speak a word of English. $27 billion dollars are spent each year for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

4. $3 Million Dollars 'PER DAY' is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens. That's $1.2 Billion a year.

5. 28% percent of all federal prison inmates are illegal aliens.

6. $190 billion dollars are spent each year on illegal aliens for welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

7. $200 billion dollars per year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens.

8. The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the US.

9. During the year 2005, there were 8 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our southern border with as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from other terrorist countries. Over 10,000 of those were middle-eastern terrorists. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroin, crack, guns, and marijuana crossed into the U.S. from the southern border.

10. The National Policy Institute, estimates that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion, or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period.

11. In 2006, illegal aliens sent home $65 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin, to their families and friends.

12. The dark side of illegal immigration: Nearly one million sex crimes are committed by illegal immigrants in the United States!

Total cost - a whopping $538.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR !

And we don't need a wall?

If this doesn't bother YOU, then just delete the message.

Otherwise, forward this to everyone YOU know.

THOSE WHO WOULD DISRESPECT OUR FLAG, HAVE NEVER BEEN HANDED A FOLDED ONE!

Mike W, there is ignorance and then there is stupidity. We are all ignorant about numerous things, but in today's world not checking your source of information before using it is just stupid.

I don't know how long it took you to type your post, but had you taken just two minutes to type Tina Gregio's name into any internet search engine you would have discovered not only the article was not written by her, but was written in 2007 by someone using her name and she quickly wrote a response debunking everything in the article.

Since you and your kindred on this forum would not accept the truth about the cost of immigration if Jesus himself presented it, I won't take the time to bore you with facts from reputable sources - for now.

To all, do we have an immigration issue? Sure. Is it all bad? No. Can reasonable people put their heads together and come up with workable solutions? That's to be seen. So far no administration, regardless of party, has been willing or able to make the hard decisions needed to do what is best for America. Until our politicians show a willingness to reach across the aisle and compromise we will be stuck with the status quo.

Frank W. et. al.  Thanks for the latest about the Pat Parelli Natural Horsemanship and I notice they appear to have established a Location in Florida. I have been familiar with Pat Parelli's program for a number of years. In my years of studying Horsemanship a man who attended Camelback High School and graduated a year behind us, in 1966 is John Lyons who started his own Clinics in the USA and other places. Last I heard he resides in Paradise, Colorado and his son and daughter are both horse and people training Clinicians also. One of John's students was Ken McNabb who became a very well known clinician, and has a yearly Auction of Ranch Trained Quarter Horses that are prized for showing, and competitions such as Cutting Horse, Reining Horse, and Working CowHorse because of their Training and Ready Competitive availability. One man who has provided me with excellent knowledge of Training Horses is Bryan Neubert. I've attended Bryan's Demonstrations, especially one which was held here in Southern California, at a High School that is a private School which was run by a Horseman named Richard Winters. Neubert is a real expert, and he has a CD out that is called Wild Horse Handling that is an actual CD of Bryan using his methods with a just Bought Mustang, starting from its first Haltering to Saddling and Riding by the owner who bought the horse at Auction just 3 hours before. Bryan would put up a 60 foor in circumference Round  Pen and while weariing a Headset Mouthpiece tell you what he was doing as he was doing it. The CD lasts almost two hours, Bryan never whips, or abuses the horse in any manner, and is riding the horse bareback when he finally has the horse ready for its new owner. One amazing and encouraging thing to watch. I then went and did the same thing myself with a Mistang that our Church Group bought and in about 3 weeks we had the Mustang gentled and he is still all these years later being used to rope, gather, and give trail rides to any rider. Thanks for the Information.

So Richard DeShong what is your recommendations for solving the Border Crisis. You never did say, you just told Mike Wetzel he was wrong. How so? I hear the horn, but so what, the iceberg is already there for all of us to see. Solutions Richard. Trump did the best Job with Border so far, but you don't like what he did because you all hate him. What a very sorry and immature excuse for dismantling a system Trump couldn't get Schumer and Pelosi to agree to because     Well       it was Trump's idea. Quit blowing smoke.

By your comments, you appear to want to stop corporate profitability to a point where they have to redistribute wealth to who, the government? I want as much money in the hands of as many private citizens as possible. Having stated my thoughts, how would you handle your beef?

Mike K, I didn't tell Mike W he was wrong, Tina Gregio, his quoted source did. I just pointed out he didn't check the facts. Who knows, since he uses duckduckgo and it partners with Yandex, a Russion search engine, maybe he is incapable of getting the truth.

I know we are all getting old and our memories are not what they use to be, but I seem to remember offering several potential ideas for easing the border situation. Each time I did all I got was "let's change the subject" , or no response at all. So I'll make you a deal. Each week in January I'll post an idea on how we might improve America's  immigration problem if you agree to post once a week explaining exact what Trump did to make improvement and was not over turned by the courts. Maybe you can pretend you're in a court of law and you are the prosecution. You'll need to make your case beyond a shadow of a doubt and use only verifiable evidence.

Agreed?

Greg, you got me! I hate all rich people. As hard as it may be for you and others to accept, most likely you are in the top 20% of the wealthiest people in America. I know my wife and I are and we don't consider ourselves rich. Before you fire back a rebuttal you may want to research the most current distribution of wealth figures to see exactly where you stand.

What I am definitely against is giving undeserved tax cuts to the wealthiest and the shaft to the poorest and then complaining how much the deficit is going up. Rather than giving people like Musk, Gates, LeBron, and so many others deductions they will use just to bulk up their portfolios, how about we target tax cuts to those who out of necessity will immediately spend the extra money and thus stimulate the economy. Maybe we could allow anyone so qualifies as poor to get a rebate on the federal gas tax they pay. Or, maybe if a student comes from a family in the bottom 10% of earners they can apply for an intrest free federal loan provided they agree upon graduation to apply their skills in an economically depressed area for two years.

If you want to describe the above as redistribution of the wealth, have at. But then ask youself "what would Jesus do?" .
