Mike K,

I understand your position. Just like any defense attorney you look for anything to divert attention from your client's guilt while you search high and low for a loop hole. I get it.

Now donald could have negotiated the slavery problem and we wouldn't have had the Civil War.  Maybe we wouldn't have even known the name Abraham Lincoln. I wonder if he would have negotiated it like he did with Mexico and paying for his wall........oh wait, he was never able to do that. But I'm sure he could have negotiated to avoid the Civil War.......play laugh track here.  Maybe he could have negotiated to end Viet Nam, probably his bone spurs would have stopped him, how could he think with the pain of those non-existent bone spurs. I do have to give him credit though, with his  ignorance of American History, he knew we had a Civil War.

Frank,

Biden and Pence had classified documents, which they were authorized to view in their possession at they're private residence. They were not authorized to have them in those locations. Once both of them became aware of these documents they immediately notified the proper people to arrange their transfer to the correct location.

However Trump received request to return documents in his possession at Mar A Lago and ignored the request. He was then issued a subpoena to return them. Even after numerous efforts to obtain these records he refused to comply. He's being charged with obstruction because like so many things he didn't think he had to follow the rules.

Jim- I know there has been a lot of banter on here about heavy subjects like … how many classified documents are OK to take or wrong to take . .. and climate change.

On somewhat of a lighter note, may I gift you the following, taken from the ASC II programing code.

WINDOWS: on computers with Windows operating system like Windows 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP, etc.

To get the letter, character, sign or symbol "º" : ( masculine ordinal indicator or  otherwise known as that little circle standing for degrees ) on computers with Windows operating system:

  1. Press the "Alt" key on your keyboard, and do not let go.
    2) While keep press "Alt", on your keyboard type the number "167", which is the number of the letter or symbol "º" in ASCII table.
    3) Then stop pressing the "Alt" key, and ...you got it!

My show is live and on stage every Monday night at 7pm . . . and don’t forget to try the pork stroganoff. ººº smiley

Earl, the title of Ted Cruz's book is "UNWOKE.".  Richard and I would like your comments on both books.

Richard. Can I assume, then, that you are saying that section 3 means that you can accuse anyone of a crime without due process, and it would render him unable to serve?  I don't think that's how our justice system is supposed to work. But, then, that seems to be how AG Garland thinks it should.

Bill Kaehler.  Thank you!  Look back at my #12270 and you will find the "little circle standing for degrees" right where it should be.  You are one smart cookie.

I'm finding it ironic that Progressives/Liberals/Democrats are jumping on the "Democracy is in jeopardy".  Numerous Democratic areas are now living in near Anarchy.  In California there are cities where you can $900+- and not go to jail.  In NYC a bunch of illegals equipped with theft tools went into Bloomingdale's and stole very high end Sunglasses.  Remember all the looting and burning after the George Floyd murder?  No punishment=anarchy.  When I mentioned Biden lying to the Blacks in South Carolina saying, "They're going to put you back in chains!"  How about Harry Reid lying about Mitt Romney not paying his taxes and then when he was called out on it he said, "Well it worked, didn't it?"  While laughing.  Or how about the Obama commercial which portrayed Paul Ryan pushing Granny off a cliff?  Lying about Republicans taking away Social Security?  I guess since they don't have good policies they've decided to just lie again?

DeWitt, I’ll assume you have chosen not to familiarize yourself with the history of article 14 ,section 3 of the 14th amendment to the constitution. If I am wrong, I apologize in advance.

The 14th amendment was adopted in 1868 to codify the citizenship and civil rights of newly emancipated slaves. It also removed the clause that stated slaves would only be considered as 3/5ths of a person when it came to determining the population of a state’s allotment of representatives to congress.

Section 3 was added to deny anyone who had taken an oath of office to protect the constitution and then participated in an insurrection or rebellion,(i.e. the Civil War) from ever holding an elected position in federal, state, or even local politics. It was adopted as a civil penalty versus a criminal penalty so no conviction by trial was necessary to apply and enforce the disbarment. Since being adopted in 1868 this section has only been used eight times and five of those involved had not been convicted of anything in a court of law. Six ex-confederate politicians were denied being seated in the House of Representatives using this clause, and in 1919 Victor Bergman, a representative from Wisconsin was barred from serving due to espionage.

Then in 2022 the State of New Mexico, citing section 3, deemed Couy Griffin, a County Commissioner, from being eligible from holding any elected position due to his involvement in mobilizing the mob before the Jan. 6th Capitol insurrection, and then joining and inciting the mob attack on Jan. 6th. Griffin was not accused of personally being violent or entering the Capitol building.

The Supreme Court has never been asked to challenge section 3 but has agreed to consider such a challenge and has set February 8, 2024, as the date they will hear oral arguments as to its validity. Since the constitution specifies that rules concerning elections are a state’s right issue, it will be interesting to see how they rule given that they previously ruled abortion was a states right issue and allowed each state to apply their laws as they deemed fit.

So, keep your fingers crossed that you get the outcome you want. I know I will be keeping mine crossed.

Mr. Kelly, let me understand something.

A potential “super volcano” that last erupted 70,000 years ago and destroyed approximately 2/3rds of what is now the lower United States, is worth worrying about, but a potential ice age that last occurred 65,000 years and covered 2/3rds of the lower United States under ice, is not.

I suppose the trick is to decide which seismologists should be believed, and which should not be believed. But then you can say the same thing about climatologists. Or, since the likelihood that any of us alumni will be around when the s*** hits the fan, we can just leave it up to the generations behind us, who will be affected, to decide how they want to react and prepare.

I have thought that Frank must spend his entire waking hours scouring the internet looking for everything that paints democrats in potential wrong doing. I emphasize potential wrongdoing.

Just watched and listened to Fantasia sing the National Anthem before the Washington, Michigan game.  She did a wonderful job and as per usual, that song gave me a lump in my throat.  When I'm at a game, I do pretty well singing along for awhile, then....it's pretty much lip-syncing to the end.

I agree Lorts. I mentioned it in a post but I had to remove it. I wrote it when I got home from an oncologist appt for my daughter and my mind wasn't clear. I will add to your post tomorrow. It seems to me that looking for gotcha things all day would get boring, but maybe not for Frank.

DeShong, Lorts, etc. I don't spend a lot of time worrying about things that might happen. That is what Insurance is for and if it is not covered, thats usually because the event may be so catastrophic that none of us will be around anyway. If it is insured members of my profession can make fabulous amounts of money chasing the insurance dollars in one fashion or another Usually ambulances.

Lorts, if you don't  have any respect for  our legal system then come up with a better Formula, if you can't then maybe you need to  stick with humping Iron and practicing a Trade. It's honorable, necessary, and politics is certainly nor your gambit.

DeShong Facts mean Something and you don't know all the Facts on Trump and Jan. 6 but its probably OK because either way your Vote is probably your  only real Voice, and that is being diluted daily at our Southern Border So Shine that Apple for a while.

Mike K,

In your last post you berate your legal profession in the first paragraph and then claim I have no respect for legal system in the second paragraph. Some of your post tend to ramble but this one was over the top.

Mexican President Obrador is demanding we give him 20 BILLION to stop the flow of illegals.  I wonder if he would ever have the audacity to do that if we had a strong President?

I don't know about you, and correct me if I'm wrong, but in these thousands of posts over the past number of years, we conservatives are at a standstill as well as the same for the liberals when it comes to the type of people we want to run government and how they would do it. The libs can "research" all they want. However I tend to look at what's happening today to help me determine who I feel should be in an elected position. And today, I look around me and see failures abound in the country, state and local governments that need addressing regardless of political alignments. Changes need to be made during this next election cycle. We will always have the opportunity to change again in the next elections. And for the left to accuse the right of destroying democracy, I challenge you to tell me how.

Well, for all of you who can't wait to post everything anti-Biden, how do you feel about trump's latest statement.  He hopes the stock market will crash in the next 12 months so he doesn't look like Herbert Hoover when he is elected.  He wants your retirement funds to disappear this year, jobs to disappear, and the economy to crash before the end of the year.  Too bad, we actually have a strong economy under Biden, it is coming back very nicely.  Now, twist yourselves in pretzels and defend trump.  Here is what is really happening.  Unemployment is under 4% for nearly 2 years, best job market in America since the 1960's.  Jobs numbers under President Biden are better than every single year under trump.  The number of people uninsured is the lowest in American history.  In the last quarter economic growth rate was revised up to 5.2%, not exactly the crash trump wished on us while running for President in 2016, 2020, and now again in 2024.  Prices are coming down, wages are going up.  The United States is doing better than every other major economy in the world since Covid. President Biden has helped many with student loan debt by zeroing out many loans and lowering the payoffs on others.  DeSantis has a great new idea, students with loans should start their lives by going bankrupt, yup, he wants to make student loans able to be bankrupted, isn't that a nice way to start off earning years.  DeSantis also threw out the idea these students are taking "zombie studies."  It is important for the MAGA/trumpies not only to have students bankrupt themselves as the first thing they do upon graduation, he also belittles them with false information.

trump has been found liable for sexual abuse in E. Jean Carroll case, he has been recorded saying he can grab women by the genitals because he's a star, he had sexual relations with a woman while Melania was carrying his child, he has been accused of sexual misconduct in by many women, yet the MAGA/trumpies kick out the Florida state Republican Party leader for an allegation of sexual assault.  Yup, the MAGA/trumpies think sexual assault is wrong by a party leader yet the leader of their "family values" party, again, insert laugh track here, a sexual deviant, is just fine with them.

It looks like Brazil is teaching the US how to handle wannabe dictators,  After the Bolsonaro was voted out of office, his supporters attacked government buildings, much like Jan 6th here.  The difference, over a period of time the Brazilians put Bolsonaro in the junk heap of history, he is a mostly forgotten man......in Brazil.  He can't run again until 2030 and by then he will probably be a forgotten man.....in Brazil. But the wannabe dictator has found a home, in Florida, where pro-trump groups have treated him like a hero.  He spoke at Turning Point USA held at Doral.  He is rejected by his own country for trying to turn the second largest democracy into a dictatorship but lucky enough to exile to Florida where MAGA/trumpies welcome him with open arms. I guess Orbán was too busy abusing his citizens to come to the US to give speeches to MAGA/trumpies.  If this is the way the MAGA/trumpies on this forum want to play, it is so easy.

In Iowa, the MAGA/trumpies brought in Governor Huckabee Sanders.  What is she known for, repealing the child labor laws.  Because who doesn't think her labor shortage can be made better by children entering the labor force. Their already abysmal education outcomes can be made worse by allowing children to work instead of doing what they should be allowed to do, get an education and be children.

I often wondered why people don't post positive issues from the MAGA/trumpie platform. It's because the can't.  All the MAGA/trumpies want to do is to be against and whine.  I can play the game of only posting negativity, whine, whine, whine but from now on I will only be posting about the nation under trump compared with the nation under President Biden.  Compare and contrast.  I need to stay more positive to get through the challenges life has thrown at my daughter and me.  F**K CANCER!!!

So, thank you President Biden for bringing back the economy after one of the worst pandemics in the world, after the $1.9 trillion in tax cuts, totally unpaid for, that over 90% went to the wealthiest people.  Thank you, thank you President Biden.  It wasn't easy and we still have room for improvement, but you have started us down the super highway to a sound economy for all.

Mayorkas has told others that if he is Impeached then we won't like the replacement    Word on the "Hill" is that Jane Fonda will be the next appointment by Biden to a cabinet position.

Richard DeShong  Your "What If" only needs one move to make it happen, We have Already Started the Fence, Mexico has nothing to do with it, Just Joe Biden has to really GET SERIOUS ABOUT FINISHING THE FENCE. WHEN DO YOU THINK BIDEN CAN MUSTER UP THE ENERGY TO GET SERIOUS ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER TNAN ICE CREAM CONES AND SNIFFING HAIR.

LORTS" i knew you were devoid of a Sense of Humor, your Post coment to me proves it. Stick with Humping Iron and putting sticke of Wood together to make money. I do feel some empathy for you, you seem to be like a Turtle which is flipped over on its back Should I spin you a coupla a hunnert revolutrions to make you Dizzy, or put you back on your legs so you can run away or hide in your shell.

Seems like Biden's Cabinet is approacing the  critical functions of preserving the Freedoms of the Country in a sorta "Se Le Vie" way. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin took time off supposedly for some rather convoluted medical reasons, and the discourse seems to be aimed at "you know, we admit it was a Boo Boo, but you know Trump did this thing, and that thing, or some other thing so lets forget about Austin on and on ad infinitum" and lets just forget it. My reaction is different. What little nefaruous but critical compromising mission did the Biden Administration send Austin on. What the hell was given away while Austin disappeared?  This iis not Summer Camp with Spin and Marty, its "Ameerika" as GWB would say. I'd like to know where Austim went, who went with him, and what the hell did he give away. I don't Trust Demoncrats, Never, and Ever. when they want to eliminate a Choice I could Vote For in 2024 I.e. Trump, then my days of Collegial Communication are officially over. I don't Trust Demoncrats, PERIOD.

Your like Lassie trying to get the townspeople to come the well. Much like when Colombo had just one more question.  Very similar to the bullet in Barney's pocket. Yada, yada, yada blah, blah, blah.

Per Greg's post 12304 about the type of person we favor to be our leaders, a moderate friend of mine told me,  aside from specific issues, he judges the candidates on 3 Cs -- Is the candidate Competent?  Does the candidate have good Character?  Does the candidate Care about me?
