That was like a Case !
I litigated a case in San Bernardino County a few years back. The client was in somewhat of a Pickle, and I thought at any rate despite what had happened in the case before, that I might wangle a continuance of a week or two so that I could get a real good handle on the case and bring it to a more successful !conclusion.
No More Continuances Counsel, lets get this worked out this afternoon. Outside, in the Hallway i saw opposing counsel ahd she appeared Vexed. Thinking that there is nothing better than the direct approach, and having played all my other cards. I looked down the Hallway and said Counsel, is there anyway at all that we can work together and get this Case resolved where nobody is dancing while the other party is sobbing on my shoulder of vice versa. She looked at me and she got the biggest smile on her face, and she said Damn, am I glad you asked.
Well we got it resolved, and nobody looked like their favorite Dog had just died, nor did anyone appear to have won the Lottery. It worked.
That Judge was delighted when we came back into the Courtroom, and told him we had worked out a settlement. It was like old home week, So my curiousity had been piqued (look it up if you don't know) because he had the strangest Contraption in front of his Podium, and over towards the Clerks desk. It was a bunch of various sized different colored metal globes in a variegated order that looked to be so random as to defy definition, it was like seeing a sort of ordered Confusion. I asked the Judge "Judge do you mind if I ask you what that metal contraption is and I'm sorry if my description is indelicate, but what is that?" He said to me 'If you are as smart as you may think you are, Counsel, you tell me what it is" I'll give you a HInt. It's a Clock, I collect unusual Clocks. Thinking to my self "Well your big mouth has done it again" I took a Wild Guess. "Judge that looks like a TV Show I saw once, called the Third Rock from the Sun. The Judge got a Big Smile on his Face and He Said "You know Counsel, your the first person who has gotten that Right"
He went ahead and explained that the Solar System Clock worked like how the Solar System in the rotation of the planets rotate around the Sun. It was amazing how someone had conceived of such a unique Clock and then had set it up to work off the rotation of the Planets. What goes around comes around.
That was like a Case!
