I believe Goldwater and Reagan both hated lies and bad behavior.  Disney has promoted both.  They are promoting a gay lifestyle to young children and promoting CRT material to children.  The key words in that last sentence was "children".  Someone needed to stand up to the "Woke Dopes" and De Santis did.  I'm pretty sure both Goldwater and Reagan would have both stood up to Disney and the "Woke" culture.  The Republicans aren't, as a group, saying no to helping Ukraine.  They, as a group want an accounting of what money/equipment is going there, how it's spent, and what is the end game or for how long.  Sounds pretty reasonable to me.  Remember, Ukraine doesn't have a very good history when it comes to corruption.  De Witt, I know you have expressed your support for Trump.  I'm glad you're going into '24 with an open mind!  We can't afford to make a mistake!!  So far I have, in this order, De Santis, Haley, and Tim Scott.  My only hesitation with Tim Scott is that he wasn't a Governor.

Disney in Florida was not a "free market"!!!!!  They received special treatment by being self-governed.  Universal Studios, Sea World, Ripleys Believe it or Not and other Amusement Parks did not get the Tax Benefits Disney got.  I thought all you bleeding heart Liberals believed in Equality.  Is it Equality when one business gets special treatment??  I think not!!

When Disney searched for a location for their new theme park every municipality and state presented packages including tax benefits in hopes of landing that theme park. The other companies you mentioned came after Disney was established so those incentives were much less. When McDonalds picks a new location they usually buy adjacent properties because they know other fast food competitors will want to be next to them and they want to be the landlord.

The issue is should government dictate what a private business presents to the marketplace

Another example of free market is when a developer builds a strip center they offer the anchor (Safeway, Home Depot, etc) almost free rent because those anchors will attract other businesses that will pay standard rents.

So if I'm the landlord of one those strip centers and I don't like how they're displaying junk foods. They're promoting food that is bad for customers health. I decide to raise the rent.

When it comes to deciding which President was the best, it's hard to decide between Reagan and Trump. But when it comes to deciding which was the worse, it's no contest. Carter was a terrible President but a great humanitarian. Biden is a loser on both counts. I agree with Greg on the point that  Democrats seem to be the ones getting us into wars, and Republicans are the ones getting us out. Under Trump, we would have had a well-organized withdrawal from Afghanistan, getting all our people and visa holders out and keeping the Bagram air base open. Under Biden, it was a disastrous surrender. Now we come to Goldwater (or Au H2O) and Johnson (Sorry Mike. Au H2O may be above your pay grade). Johnson made Goldwater out to be a warmonger. I still cringe when I think of the ad where a little girl pulls petals off a sunflower, followed by a nuclear blast. But who got us fully involved in a winless war in Vietnam? Nixon tried several plans to win the war, but they turned out to be disastrous, so he set forth a timetable for withdrawal. Unfortunately, too many lives had been lost, including many of our friends and family members. We will never know the outcome if Goldwater had been elected. Ukraine has a lot of corruption. But our current administration has a lot of corruption as well. We should be helping Ukraine resist Communism of Russia but not at the expense of our own people. Where is Europe in this? Biden should demand the NATO alliance pay its fair share the way Trump would. Ukraine is not a NATO country, but it is to the advantage of Europe that they win this war. 

Frank, I agree that all of these would make good Presidents. But DeSantos hasn't announced a run yet, and unless I missed it, neither has Scott. I'm not sure about Vivek Ramaswamy. He talks a good talk, but we will see when he starts campaigning. Yes, I am still in Trump's camp. I know some people don't like the way he talks or his mannerisms, but he got the job done. And no matter who runs for President, the left will try to eat them alive. So like I said, I will wait for the campaigns and debates to start before I make my final decision. 

One last thought before I end my tirade. Republicans and conservatives are not perfect. Our constitution is not perfect, but we are the best bet we have for maintaining our Republic and the freedoms and liberties it guarantees. We are a government made up of human beings. In all the world's history, there has only been one human who was perfect. Sadly many don't believe He existed, or if they do, they don't believe He was perfect. But He is our only hope for our continued existence.

I notwithstanding the Tucker Carlson's of this World and other Conservatives, believe we should be providing the Ukrainians all the funding and weapons, food, medical care, and other help they need to end the Russian Scourge. In fact, I believe firmly the putin has used up all "His Good Time Credits" and should be Eliminated from the Breathes Air Freely Roster forthwith. A perfect Tool would be the .338 Lapua from a Winchester Model 70 Rifle. We are being stretched by the Created Crisis that the "Wisdom of Biden" has placed us under with his exercise of so called Futuristic All Electric All the Time Economy that he has single-handedly forced us into because of Trump Derangement Syndrome and the Cuts on Fossil Fuel Production across the Boards beginning on Jan 21, 2021 when the aging Genius took office talikng gobbledygook about Build Back Better ad nauseum.This forced "EconomicCrisis" has made the Tucker Carlson's nervous and rightfully so, but what do we love more, Freedom or money? As to biden, What a Freak he is with his raving on TV and how good he's made things, a dozen eggs at 8 bucks a carton----tell it to the Chickens Joe!

Ron DeSantis, keep it up, Disney thought it could force Floridian Parents to accept "Pederasty" and "Grooming" on little children going way overboard on what an "Amusement Park" is by definition, supposed to be providing, so DeSantis did what any Governor with his Smarts would do, he "Nudged Disney" in it's Income Stream, a Democratic Technique that an Obama Administration Geek loved to inflict on Conservatives back them. It got Disney's Attention, and the Department of Educations' attention also. Good for a Special Forces, Congressman, Governor who is a proud Family Man and certainly qualified to be a President. 

As for the comparison's between Presidents, certainly Reagan and Trump, have done the most overall good for our Nation, economically and most importantly, Freedom wise also. The rest of them I have endured and i will endure the present buffoon also.

OK.  One more time.  Here's what I'm concerned about:

1.  The Border.  Illegals, fentanyl, sex and child trafficking, criminals and terrorists coming in non-stop and we have NO F'ing Plan to stop them.  We are NOT securing the Border.  The Administration is lying to us!  THIS IS AN INVASION!  We must secure the border!!  The illegals are overwhelming many municipalities.

2.   Rampant crime with not even one nudge from Biden or his minions to bring it under control.  A real leader would be at the podium hammering the fact that we are being overwhelmed with criminals who, for example, are being released to re-offend and that he, Biden, will give States whatever help they need to bring this to a halt.  He needs to sic that bastion of legal strength, Merrick Garland, and that razor cut FBI Director Wray on the bad guys and STOP playing politics.  Trouble is, that'll never happen.

3.  Inflation, cost of food, gasoline, heating oil, LNG and so on and on.  Biden needs to reinstate Trump policies to turn our economy loose.  So much more to say here.

4.  China is overwhelming America.  From the China Virus to stealing intellectual property, to buying up farmland, to flying F'ing balloons over our most sensitive areas...balloons that "could have been carrying" an Electromagnetic Pulse devise that could throw us back to the 1850's when the electrical grid gets fried, to opening CCP Police Departments in OUR country.  What the hell?  So much more.

5.  Huge spending programs creating a deficit that we can NEVER expect to eliminate OR at least bring to a manageable amount.  Biden and Co. are bankrupting the country.  Totally in the Socialist playbook.  And what about the tuition waivers for the snowflakes who "pledged in writing to pay back" their loans and Biden wants us to pay?  Any sentient human being could tell that this was a bribe for votes....and it worked.  It's NOT legal....and by some stretch of the imagination it is adjudicated legal, IT IS NOT RIGHT!  You cannot possibly believe it's right!

6.  Ukraine.  Defeat the sonofabitch...Putin.  I know there are many who feel Zelensky and Ukraine are corrupt.  Who, in politics, ain't?  The enemy of my enemy is my friend.  We cannot let Russia win.  Biden says Ukraine doesn't need F-16's yet.  What the F*ck does he know?  Listen to your generals and not your politicians in uniform and members of the Star Chamber Mr. Biden.  Listen to General Jack Keane, for example.

If you want to delve into the origins of "America First," and talk about how mean Trump was and dither on about the 1/6 hearings, election fraud...go ahead, but I'm not personally interested.  We are IN TROUBLE and we need to pay attention to more substantive issues.  Write to your reps, send money to Conservative PAC's, VOTE.  That's about all we can do.    And, BTW, I sincerely believe Trump will be judged by history after we are all gone as more right than wrong and that he was a strong, solid president in the right place at the right time.....as aggravating as he is/was.

Jim Coats  I think you did an excellent Summary of the different Things whether you label them Facts or Policies, or holes in the Fence that need patching, in your 9460 and I agree with what you said. It appears that people in Chicago are finally waking up to the Plague on Civilized Society that Lori Lightfoot has been as the Mayor of the Windy City. Hopefully someone Sane will become the Mayor and no doubt be forced to spend hundreds of millions of dollars cleaning up the hellhole she created with her "Experiments with the Mores of Society"  with Chicagoans as guinea pigs.

Michael W.  My impression of the 338 Lapua was of a high velocity flat shooting Cartridge akin to the 338 Winchester Magnum cartridge but about 200 fps better ouf of the spout and flatter at 300 yds. than the 338 Winchester. I have not looked it up recently however. I did have occasion about two weeks ago to review the Cartridges that are the Family of the 264 Winchester Magnum, the 6.5 variations, and all the way up to the 270 Winchester Magnum and I was impressed with the 28 Nosler, which is akin to the 7 mm Magnum and a tad bit faster out the spout and flatter shooting. The question I have is if the 28 Nosler will become nearly as popular as the 7 mm and the 30-06. I had a Browning Semi-Auto in 30-06 with a good 3x-9x Scope but traded it off some years ago. Probably for money to help buy a good Wade Tree Saddle with the Guadulajara Stylo Horn in 16 and 1/2 I lost my last horse Rocky a Sorrel Gelding 16 hands tall 1350 lbs Quarter Horse to age at 30. He thought he was a human and followed me everywhere and was what cowboys call an "All Day Horse" meaning that once he got over bucking in the morning, he had the bottom to carry you many miles all day and would still be ready to work the next morning if you didn't have another mount for rotation.

Dr. Fauci the Ghoul played his Version of Hitler's Doctor Mengele (remember the Movie with Gregory Peck where he played doctor Mengele) so Fauci the Ghoul used the Communist Chinese and the Wuhan Laboratory to use American Dollars to fund the Gain in Function Research creating the World Killing Virus to avoid the prohibition of such Research here in the USA. When I first saw the words Wuhan Laboratory on the building in China i thought some very thoughtful Communist said "Well, at least I will have given the first clue as to where this Heinous Plague came from"!.
