No Mike I'm not an isolationist. I'm pragmatic. And if the blue states would stop electing people like Hobbs, Fetterman, Swalwell, Schiff, AOC, Bush and others, we would start to get this country back on the right track. Notice I did not say we needed to replaced these radical leftist Democrats with Republicans. I would say there are some Repubicans who we could do without as well. They are just harder to identify. Unfortunately you think more like a globalist. I just cannot join that thought process. America first.

Greg.  I'm leaning more and more in your direction.  When Biden was asked "Why Not F-16's NOW?"  His response was because he (Zelensky) doesn't need them.  Biden hasn't been to war.  I have and I know Ukraine would be better off if they dominated the sky.  I listen to people like Gen. Jack Keane and he says IF we gave Ukraine what they need, this war could be over by spring.  Then, maybe, we coud move on with finding out WHO'S THE LIAR?

SECURE THE BORDER!!  FOLLOW THE MONEY!!  AMERICA FIRST!!

You guys need to make up your minds. Is the Ukrainian government totally corrupt and we need to stop sending aid or do we give them everything they want to end the war. I already expressed my opinion on how we end this war and at the same time send a message to China on how we would handle an invasion of Taiwan.

Any American who doesn't believe in "AMERICA FIRST" Isn't an American. Putting America first is not isolationism. Putting your family first doesn't mean you isolate yourself from other people. PUTTING AMERICA FIRST, MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, AND KEEPING AMERICA GREAT means honoring, respecting, and loving the things about America that have given us the freedoms, liberty, and way of life that we have. The United States is the envy of the world. So should we be taking the Biden approach of weakening our country to appease those that hate us?

Mike, you have your opinion, I have mine. That's what those of us out here in the real world are dealing with. Unfortunately, we have to deal with the people we elect to represent us in government whether they are doing a good job or not for every 2,4 and 6 years. So.etimes we get it wrong like in the case of Biden. But as those of us who did not vote for him, we still have to deal with him forabout another two years. Hope things get better before then. But as time passes in my opinion with Biden as POTUS, things are just getting worse.

Very well said DeWitt.

Have all of you read the history of the phrase AMERICA FIRST? Interesting reading and how it mirrors the sentiment of many of you in regards to Ukrain. If your not aware of our history and the mistakes we made in the past we are doomed to repeat them.

One thing I remember is the isolationism that both France and England exhibited prior to WWII. Then of course the US.had to come in and save their asses. Japan was a different story. They attached us and the rest is history. But I also remember we were not militarily prepared to fight Japan. It took an American effort to build up our military strength to destroy both Japan and Germany. Let's not let that happen again.

In 1940 America First spokesman, Charles Lindbergh was making speeches that UK was losing to Germany and the US should not waste our resources trying to defend the UK. America First was promoting us staying neutral. History now shows how they were wrong. The same was true about how PM Chamberlain thought he could negotiate with Hitler.

Greg said we bailed out the UK and France. I think we had help from Canada and Australia.

Mike, for myself I would define my America First attitude different than what you find in the history of the words. I believe most if not all of us conservative on this Forum differ from the thoughts of Lynberg and Chamberlain as expressed by Greg, DeWitt , Frank, Jim and others.

Many believe Lindbergh was a Nazi sympathiser having actually accepted the Nazi Cross from the Germans. He is reported to saying that we could not defeat the Germans if we entered the war. Roosevelt felt otherwise after France and England asked for our help. And another thing we should all agree on, our top notch defense contractors love wars to some degree. Building tools of war is their business. I'm glad we have the best. But it is a catch 22 in some respects when we start to supply the weapons to countries to fight their wars. Looking back, this has drawn the US into many conflicts, many of which we should not have been involved. Remember of all the wars we have been involved in since WW II, we have not won any of them.

It turns out that "Snake oil Fauci" was lying about the Wuhan Lab and the origin of Covid and Trump was right.  Remember when the media and most all Liberals said Trump was prejudiced against Asians because he said he thought it did come from the Lab.

Support for Ukrain is already beginning to crumble because talking heads like Tucker Carlson and politicians like MTG are sowing the America First seeds. Tucker is the most popular celebrity on Russian State television. It's a world turned upside down. Reagan and Goldwater would not stand a chance in today's Republican Party.

Mike, as JFK would today in your Democratic Party. I believe Reagan and Goldwater would be fine with the Republicans today.

I don't know Mike. Seems to me that Reagan beat Carter pretty handily. Even though Carter has been label by many as our worst President until now that we have Biden. Both of these two attributed to the malaise of our economies and world relationships. And it's too bad Goldwater was not elected because he was right in many respects. And we all know that Lyndon Johnson decided not to run for re-election because of his bumbling of the Viet Nam war. Seems to me, it took a Republican to get us out of the mess both Carter and Johnson got us into. And if Nixson had not tried to cover for those who broke into the DNC offices, he would not have been blamed and thus had to resign.

02/27/23 05:01 PM #9305

Mike Lorts

I said in today's Republican Party.

Both Reagan and Goldwater believed that government should stay out of our private lives.  Neither of them would consider interfering with corporate business. They wouldn't survive the primaries.

Who was the last POTUS achieve a surplus?

Actually Ron De Santis reminds me of a young Reagan.  Both Governors, although De Santis is more Highly Educated.  I learned something that I think is another positive about R.D.S. in the special I recommended.  He served in the U.S. House of Representatives so he knows D.C.!---------Damn Greg, I'm impressed!  Malaise!  You must have brushed the dust off your "Webster's"!

I can't imagine Reagan punishing Disney because he didn't like the content of their videos, books, etc. . Both Reagan and Goldwater believed the marketplace decides what is appropriate. NOT POLITICIANS

Frank. I watched the "Who is Ron DeSantis" episode on Fox Nation. He has quite a history. I just ordered his Book today after watching his interview with "The great one," Mark Livin. I can't wait to start it.

Mike, you should read "ONLY THE STRONG" by Tom Cotton. In it, he gives some TRUE history of our country. Have you ever heard of a President named WOODROW WILSON? You talk about an isolationist. He held back on entering World War 1 and supporting our allies until it was almost too late. Biden actually resembles Wilson more than he does Roosevelt.

DeWitt,

Do you realize it's the Republicans that are making noise about withdrawing our support of Ukrain. Biden has been working tirelessly to build coalitions around the world.

I haven't seen an answer to my question in post# 9436.

I'm not sure Mike. Please do tell. Can you tell us the last time Congress passed a balanced budget. As Reagan said, it's not that we are taxed too much, it's that we spend too much. Congress has purposely made the tax laws so convoluted that most haven't a clue how much they pay in taxes. I'll include everything from income tax to sales tax. How come only Republicans talk cutting taxes?

I believe Goldwater and Reagan both hated lies and bad behavior.  Disney has promoted both.  They are promoting a gay lifestyle to young children and promoting CRT material to children.  The key words in that last sentence was "children".  Someone needed to stand up to the "Woke Dopes" and De Santis did.  I'm pretty sure both Goldwater and Reagan would have both stood up to Disney and the "Woke" culture.  The Republicans aren't, as a group, saying no to helping Ukraine.  They, as a group want an accounting of what money/equipment is going there, how it's spent, and what is the end game or for how long.  Sounds pretty reasonable to me.  Remember, Ukraine doesn't have a very good history when it comes to corruption.  De Witt, I know you have expressed your support for Trump.  I'm glad you're going into '24 with an open mind!  We can't afford to make a mistake!!  So far I have, in this order, De Santis, Haley, and Tim Scott.  My only hesitation with Tim Scott is that he wasn't a Governor.
