For some reason, I'm into Monte Vista today.

I was not a bad kid, nor was I a real good student.  But, my mouth got me into trouble a bit and I was sent to the Principal's office twice.  Both times, I had to face Clayton William (Gus) Gittus, the assistant or vice principal.  It was NOT fun.  He had a florid complexion that made him look very, very angry.

But, here's the Rest of the Story.  Mr. Gittus was a fairly young man then.  His wife passed away in 2017 at 87 years old, so I'm guessing "Gus" was younger than my Dad.  He was much younger than Mr. Gillespie, the Principal.  Mr. Gittus went with my Boy Scout Troop down into Havasu Canyon (Beautiful!!) and played like a kid.  He swung out over the water on a frail rope trapeze tied to an overhanging branch put there by someone else.....who knows how long ago.....and did a back flip into the water (several times) without regard to what lay just under the surface.  We looked at him through different eyes after that.  And I never made another trip to the Principal's office because he was cool.

I saw General Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and Lloyd Austin, Defense Secretary speak this a.m. at the 911 Memorial service.  Austin said that the attack made our country, and by extention our military stronger.

I believe that was so....then.  But Obama, Biden, Milley and Austin have tried to drive the country over the WOKE cliff.....and they have been successful in many ways, not the least of which is with regard to our military.  Our military, and as a result, our country is in severe danger with these putrid people in charge.

Finally......I WISH the Republicans and everyone else would stop saying that Biden is too old to be President.  HE IS NOT!!!  He is too incompetent and too corrupt to be president and everyone knows it.

SECURE THE BORDER!!  ENFORCE THE LAW!!  AMERICA FIRST!!  FOLLOW THE MONEY!!

Dennis, thanks for the painful memories of that slide. It could get so hot that it could burn your skin even while wearing jeans. But we did it anyway. I don't know how the girls managed it. However, no such playground equipment was available when we got to the upper grades. Probably because by then, seeing up a girl's dress or skirt took on a whole new meaning for boys.  It also gave a whole new meaning to the expression, 'FRESH winds.". The girls back then liked to wear full-pleated skirts and, during recess, liked to spin around, causing their skirts to rise. They probably wondered why the boys would line up to watch them.lol  Awww, the memories. :)

I remember from Monte Vista that in the Sixth Grade through Eighth Grade I seemed to always be in Trouble for Talking and pranks with other students. Bruce Hernandez was always pranking me along with Winfred Prescott Ames lll who loved to shoot spidwads with rubber bands at various members of the class. Hernandez once took a wad of chewing gum and stuck it very skillfully to my left glasses Arm, and then tickled my ear with a stick of feather, and then I slapped at it thinking it was a fly, and SLAP I got chewing gum on my hand, some of it got in my hair. Well, i think it was Mr. Brown our Teacher caught us and off we went to the Shop Teacher for a Paddling. That Paddle was handmade by said Shop Teacher, and he would make us grab our Ankles and then he would wind up and Whack the daylights out of us, and I would sting so much that I would running out ot the Shop door with my Ass end burning from the Whacks he gave. I wound up getting 13 my sixth grade year, and I dreaded #14 so bad I stayed out of trouble for probably five days, then Hernandez or Ames or both of them would get us all in trouble and I wound up with #14. God I dreaded that. So I bargained with Mr. Brown and said I would do laps around the Football Field for a Swat. He said "How Many" and i said 10 he didn't reply, just made a Motion with his Thumb pointing up  I added and he just kept pointing up, i wound up with 75 laps per swat--------I had a total of 34 Swats accumulated in Shxth Grade-----but i made the Relay Team, and could run like a Deer for miles  Seventh and Eighth Grade were just as Bad, or Eventful if your into Appropriate Descriptions

To all I loved hearing about your times as a young grade schooler.

Im surprised that Mike Kelly was on someone to do list....I thought they only hit kids in Parochial schools.  I never realized that it was a sport that administrators throughout the many districts were going for the gusto.  The olympics of brusied buns.  Maybe life at a public school wasnt't a box of chocolates ... and I have to reexamine that maybe the nuns weren't former SS concentration camp guards But you guys had all the cool things....I loved doing shop in the summer;made many terrific things that had several things wrong with them.  loved making potery. I made book ends.  they were off a little bit, and I still have them. made a lether belt so with the talent i possesed no 3rd world countries had anything to fear.  The nuns tho were excellent in ear stretching.  They had the perfect technique; grab it and pull upward... and my wife wonders about my hearing, and thinks I need a hearing aid  If only I knew how to make voodoo dolls I would be selling them like hotcakes.

And sister Melanie I really mean it.

To my pal Bette, why didn't you tell me about the public school teachers ... I thought I was the only one that had a dump taken on them.

Hugs my friends.... I love hearing about the past.

Greg...re: #10849.  I have been meaning to comment about your post.  I saw Biden's speech and it was both sad...and a disgrace.  Along with you, I am ashamed that Biden is POTUS.  How did we ever allow our country to degrade so far?

Mike Kelly, I thought I went to get alot of swats. You beat me big time. I got all my swats from our boys PE coach, can't remember his name. He would open his door so I would not have to open the door and hold my ass at the same time, nice guy 😁. Biden has been an embarrassment from day one. When you think he can't do worse, he does. He is a fkg POS. Did I just say that? 😇

Frank, when is the Beer Summit? I have it on my calendar for two different days. Thx

DeWitt, I usually agree with you but not this time.  I loved playing on the jungle gym but never to show off my panties.  And I never twirled my skirt so that the boys could look, I never knew anyone else to do so either.  I would have died of embarrassment.

Biden's goal was to be out of Afghanistan by 9/11.  How did that work out?  Biden misses the current 9/11 service(s) in the states because....what?  He's so busy??  Of course, according to his administration, we don't hold memorial services for the attack on Pearl Harbor.  Soooo....  Despicable!!!  Then he gives IRAN, the biggest state sponser of terrorism in the world $6billion AND 5 Iranian prisoners in exchange for 5 hostages ON 9/11!!

How on earth can anyone think of this man as the leader of the free world, much less POTUS?

Lorts....I know you stick your nose under the tent flap from time to time.  I've seen you.  What do you and your cabal of democrats think about the president now?  Defend this empty suit if you possibly can.

New subject:  DeWitt.  The ball is in your court.  I'm on board with Patty and you owe an apology to the women who read "our" comments.

Talking about "swats" in Grade School.  Our Shop Teacher was Mr. Hewitt.  I got one swat in Grade School. It was in 7th Grade.  It wasn't because I was a naturally great kid, it was because if my Dad ever got wind of me being in trouble, it got worse at home.  So That's all I needed.  Mr Hewitt had about 5 paddles.  Some thicker, some more aerodynamic (had extra holes drilled in them, and of course different varieties of Wood.  Mr. Hewitt would always assemble a group of us to watch.  Probably as an example.  One Student, Pat Walsh, was in Mike Kelly mode.  Almost every class Pat got a swat.  Near the end of the year Mr. Hewitt had finally had enough.  Our Shop Classroom had 8" "I" beams in the center area of the large room.  He took Pat over to one told him to assume the position M.K. wrote about, and centered the top of Pats head on one of the flat sides of the "I" beam with about 1" of space and cracked Pat's ass.  In addition to the sound of the paddle striking Pat's butt, there was an immediate gong. Pat collapsed on the floor and was there for about 10 seconds.  Can you imagine that happening in today's School World??     Bill R.--September 19 at 5:00.  It's listed at the top of the "Home Page" with the location.  Looking forward to seeing you!!

To all of you, especially Patty, I do apologize for the inappropriate comments in my last post. With all the comments about the playground equipment, I just started remembering back to those days and my impressions. Patty, I don't know where you went to elementary school, and I'm sure none of the girls played on the jungle gym to show off their underwear. That equipment was only for the 1st to 4th graders at Monte Vista. By fifth grade, as we were approaching puberty, those were no longer available. Perhaps you didn't have girls twirling their skirts, but we did at Monte Vista. Not that many. Maybe 4 or 5, and they weren't doing it to show off their undies. I'm sure some from Monte Vista would remember that. Or am I the only pervert here? lol. Perhaps they were trying to mimic the TV dancers who were wearing dancing shorts. I'm not trying to defend my comments; I know they were inappropriate. I do sincerely apologize for my sending that.

Average household income dropped by $2,000.00+ last year and because of inflation---life is costing each family $700 a month more.  $8,400/year ($700 x 12 mos) is what Democrats vote for Lyin Biden is costing us.

Senator John Kennedy came up with another good one.  When talking about Lyin Biden giving Iran 6 Billion Dollars to get some hostages back, Kennedy said, "Buying more Sheep won't solve the Wolf problem."  From what I read the hostages were trying to do business in Iran when they were captured.  We should have left them there for being so stupid as to even going to Iran!!  Remember when Lyin Biden called the Saudis a pariah.  The Saudis never called the U.S. "The Great Satan" and threatened us like Iran did!!

DeWitt, no offense, but at that age the last thing on my mind was looking at girls underwear. Now 7th grade a different story, slow dancing at Linda Brown's or Donna Crandle's home parties😊.
Frank, not positive I will make it to the Beer Summit but I sure want to and will do my best to make it there.

Jim, no lefty will weigh in. How can any sane person think the empty puppet is not a total lyin crook and trader. He has been compromised by Ukrain, Russia, China and your guess as to how many other countries or rich oligarchs.

So Kevin McCarthy announces an Impeachment Inquiry into Biden and Sons activities which Republicans have been Carping About for months now  Grumble Grumble why doesnt someone do something etc etc  etc Now the Carpers get their Wish what do they do, The poor little Souls start wringing their pitiful little hands and begin expressing DOUBT. YES DOUBT  "what if this, what if that" like surely the SKY WILL FALL AND THE DEMOCRATS, EVIL OLD DEMS WILL WIN ONCE AGAIN.

Remember Fred Sanford  he got bad news and he would grab his Chest and bend his knees and look skyward and striking his most desperate pose he would say 'Im coming Home Weasy, I'm comin Home" REPUBLICANS STOP IT. Laura Ingraham no great Bearer of Glad Tidings milks losing for all its worth, she went negative on McCarthy faster than he could say "Inquiry" she was on it  'What if it backfires, We may not go anywhere blah blah blah" THE ATTITUDE WOULD SINK THE TITANIC WITHOUT NEEDING A GIANT ICEBERG.

You know it's alright to Relish a Victory even a routine One once in a while just for practice seems they are awful inexperienced on putting on the Happy Face.

THEN AGAIN, MANY OF THESE "SPOKESPERSONS" ARE REALLY JUST PAMPERED MEDIA VEGAN FED PRETENDERS TO LIFE HAVING FED AT THE TROUGH OF MEDIA PROMOTED SELF ESTEEM.

TO ME MCCARTHY JUST TOOK THE BIT IN THE TEETH AND SAID WERE MOVING FORWARD LET FEAR BE DAMNED.

I apologize and regret that I might of offended you with what I said about girls on  the playground equipement.

Also, if I said anything that offended the ladies that may have read anything i wrote.  It showed a  lack of maturity, and lack of knowledge;  caring about events that occured during an inocent period of time.  I too loved the monkey bars, and would climb and hang their with so many of my friends. Embarrassment isn't a fun thing for any of us.   In high school; I was always afraid of being thrown outside of the boys locker room after my shower  I can still hear the laughter.  Tho I love laughter, being embarased isn't what I would of sought.

Too share my most embarasing moment;  when i was giving the graduation thank you and gift to the school for the 8th grade graduation (our parents were their and the school pastor Father John Doran) Well i wasn't able to read it and had to memorize the speech and got through it untill i came upon the last word... well that word I forgot. I will always remember ..    M E M O R I A L

With respect girls/ladies; I'm sorry.

DeWitt, I think I know you well enough to know no offense was intended and none taken, I just wanted you to know not all of us were into teasing the boys.  I am not easily offended.

I went to grade school and Jr High in Colorado, we were allowed to play on the jungle gym all through grade school, sixth grade.  I was usually upside down or in some other contorted pose, or in a tree, whenever possible, I was a real tomboy.  Can you imagine what they would say about me now??

Dennis, no, you didn't offend me, I think your recollections of Catholic school are hilarious.

PEARLS OF WISDOM

Sometimes you might feel like no one's there for you, but you know who's always there for you?  Laundry.  Laundry will always be there for you.

I've combined a laxative and alphabet soup.  I call it "Letter Rip."  (No offense to our dog that we named Rip)

Exercise makes you look better naked.  So does alcohol.  Your choice.

My stomach is FLAT.  The L is just silent.
