Jim. Sorry to have to disagree with a fellow patriot, but the things you don't like about Trump are the things that made him such a great President. I wouldn't say I like some of the things DeSantis says, but that is what made him such a good governor. He needs to keep serving Florida for another four years. What he is saying and doing in his campaign may hurt him in the end. Remember how powerful the Marxists are that Trump is fighting against.

DeWitt.  I hear you.  I'm looking at what it takes to win.  I'm looking at out-of-control mouth vs. substance.  I loved what Trump did when in office.  We DO "need a hard-ass on that wall."  But he has to get there first.  We can only pray for a good outcome in the next 14 months.

I am wavering on DeSantis.  Right now, the person I like to listen to the most is.....wait for it.....Vivek Ramaswamy.

P.S.  Check the news.  The DOJ has already asked a Federal Judge to issue a protective order due to Trump's "threat."

Michael K. I don't remember the theme music to Zorro, but I did watch many of the episodes. I have been thinking a lot about vigilantes, It seems like if we are going to have any law at all, it will have to be vigilante law as long as it doesn't get to be a vigilante mob.

Jim. I hear you too. Vivek is a good man. I think he would be a good choice for VP, although there are others that I think would be better. But can he beat Biden? I think Biden will be the Democrat nominee. He's the only one that the Marxists left can control. I believe that Trump is the only one who can put our enemies back in their place. He's done it before. He can do it again.

The bold statements you ended our other post with are exactly what Trump has done and will do again.

The DOJ's request for an order of protection against Trump is just another distraction.  His only threats are to follow the law and use it against them.

As much as I am hoping that our Next President has the Cojones to boot the Flotsam and Jetsom ouf of DC and Clean it Up, and Trump seems to be the closest too dispositionally able to handle the outright Trash demoncrats are capable of in getting rid of them. I really wish Trump would just leave off with insu;ting people, especially our own Coservatives. Please President Trump, can the unnecessary Gab, it doesn't become you and it gives weak kneed "moderates" the excuse they need to still vote for someone who can't or won't do the Right Job in getting our Ship of State back on even Keel.

I really like Vivek Ramaswamy and he reminds of the Professor I had in Law School who taught us Evidence Law, including the ever evolving Law of Inadmissible Hearsay which is all important to know in a Trial setting.

In Fact, I believe that Ramaswamy's heritage is the same as the Evidence Professor I studing with. Very Intelligent Group. They probably have a difficult time getting into Harvard just like orientals, about 10 IQ points above the rest of us. There is such a thing in this world as being Too Good for your Own Good.

So DeWitt I am with you as a  Trump supporter, and Coats your with us on a kind of de facto level, which is just fine also. Having our Vote is not the Same as Blind Allegiance, which only belongs to God if you are inclined to so believe.

This probably is trivial, but I nave developed a real liking of the TV Series "Longmire" in fact, it seems to me that is kind of a modernization of the hit TV serices "Gunsmoke" which my father watched every chance he had. In fact, as a point of interest, offen very popular modern Actor's have studied the acting skills of Actors from the past, as John Belushi said he had studied the Facial Expressions and voice of Jackie Gleason for hours to get down the same Stylization and being curious, I studied this and found it to be true.I think the characters in Longmire are very similar to characters that had longstanding runs in Gunsmoke.

Have a Good Weekend You'all

Mike Kelly and DeWitt.  Time will tell, eh?

Mike.  I can't believe you brought up Longmire, the TV series.  Robert Taylor (no, not that one) starred.  I loved that series on Paramount and hated it when it moved to Paramount+, a pay station.  I'm just an old enough curmudgeon to refuse to pay for additional stations....except when I pay COX through the butt every month just to get TV and internet.  Seal Team with David Boreanz was also on Paramount and then moved to Paramount+.  Those are two that I really liked and never saw again.  I don't even know if they're still running.

If God was right here in front of you and demanded your answer:  Who will be the Republican nominee and who will be our next President?  What would you say?  You can't equivocate....you must say name(s)  This is an open question to all.

Coats, DeWitt   Republican Nominee   Ron DeSantis,  President   RonDeSantis   I don't believe Trump can continue bludgeoning other Conservatives without people growing tired of it. He is an excellent Leader but has his Flaws. personally I can put up with his verbal assaults becaise I have had some intensive experience with this environmental framework for a rather lengthy period of time, but it is not a normal atmosphere and to me indicates that the Aggressor has some feelings of Inferiority when they deal out abuse in such a manner. In fact, the plethora of Criminal Charges against Trump have to do with his aggression and Demoncrats bank on this provoking him and his response being "over the Top" and a way of curbing Voter Enthusiasm for his other obvious very Superior Skills as they relate to a furthering the Welfare of our Nation. If he continues, I see DeSantis as being able to gather steam over the long haul and overtaking Trump in the Primary. If that occurs, the Demoncrats have nobody at all to do battle with  DeSantis. Gavin Newsome is a "Ken and Barbie" pick and a spoiled kid who has and won't ever grow up. You can out pretty other World Leaders, but they could give a damn. Nullity Gavin.

I too enjoy the Seal Team series and have watched it all the way through and enjoy it's authenticity, but I have not gone so far in emulation as to attempt a Waterboarding Session. Just like I have the appreciation of the Cowhand Cowboy Buckaroo Skills but have not undertaken the learning process of Bull Riding----A bit much, pretty scary, and i confess to being delicate somewhat.

As a further fleshing out of my televison enjoyment, I enjoy the TV Series "Lincoln Lawyer" which is akin to the Movie :"Lincoln Lawyer": with Matthew McConnaughey that was a very good Movie. The TV Series is very good too, and has my overall approval vis-a-vis technical accuracy.

I've come to the end of my rope on one subject.  You KNOW I have railed against Trump and his mouth for years.  I have been steadfast in reflecting my disgust with his 7th grade schoolyard bully B.S.  You also know how I feel about the great job he did for the nation while under constant fire while in office.

The left has constantly said that Trump KNOWS he did not win the election because he was told by "many....whatever that is," that he lost.  Well folks, he was ALSO advised by some of his "people" that there was major fraud in the election and that it WAS stolen.  Trump chooses to believe that "opinion" and as a result, the left is attempting to crucify him for espousing that belief.  The left says...."You can't say there was major fraud in the election and that you WON.  "That's illegal" they crow.  I'm no lawyer, but I don't see expressing an opinion violates any law.

To clarify my opinion and to quote a FOX co-anchor of The Five, Jesse Watters......Permission to make an analogy?  Let's just say you went to your Doctor and were told you are going to die....soon.  Then you went to a second Doctor who told you there is a cure and you very well could live.  WHICH DOCTOR ARE YOU GOING WITH?

I think the answer is obvious because we all go with HOPE....don't we?  It's just logical.

SECURE THE BORDER!!  ENFORCE THE LAW EQUALLY!!  AMERICA FIRST!!  FOLLOW THE MONEY.....Because it's almost always all about money and power.

P.S.  Frank.  Thanks for the Sunday Funnies.  BTW, did you receive my IOTAS yet?

Michael K., I agree that Trump should tone it down a bit and stick to the issues. Many good conservatives are running in the primaries, but I feel that Trump is the only one that can fight off the corruption in D.C. and at least begin to turn our country around to what our founding fathers envisioned. I can understand Trump's frustration with our justice system (or lack thereof). Digging up the phony charges against him and having him indicted the day after anything comes out against Bided. This is nothing short of outright election interference by the Anti- republic, Anti-democracy, anti-freedom Socialist Marxists left. As Jim likes to close his posts:

AMERICA FIRST. SAVE AMERICA. CLOSE THE BORDER.

I agree. And Trump is the only one that can do that again. His ability to turn this country around outweighs his mean tweets and words.

Why do you think the conservative electorate have yet to grab hold of DeSantis vs Trump? He has more notoriety than pretty much all the others running on the Republican ticket. DeSantis has to get through the convention votes to become the nominee. At this point I don't see that happening unless they all turn tails against Trump just like the Dems are doing and trash the shit out of him. People like Christy and Pence are hurting the ticket. Whereas everytime time they charge Trump with something, his ratings go up and DeSantis goes down.

HAPPY SUNDAY ALL:  Well I can see my pick for the Nominee and President, DeSantis, has provoked some great responses, which I mostly agree with but TRUMP NEEDS TO DEVELOP INTO THE ULTIMATE STATESMAN AND JUST LAUGH THE NAYSAYERS OFF. RONALD REAGAN WAS THE MASTER AT THIS AND THERE ARE MANY INSTANCES WHEN REAGAN DID SO. I REMEMBER HOW REAGAN WAS MOCKED EVERYDAY AND THE CONSTANT HARP THE DEMONCRATS PLAYED WAS THAT "REAGAN IS DEVELOPING DEMENTIA AND THEREFORE TOTALLY UNRELIABLE AS A LEADER" GOD, IT WAS SO DISGUSTING. BUT DEMONCRATS HAVE TWO MISSING BRICKS, OR BONES WHATEVER YOU PREFER, 1. THE MEMORY BONE, AT LEAST INSOFAR AS THEY WILL ADMIT TO, AND 2.. THE TRUTH BONE, AND THEY AIN'T NEVER GOING TO RECOVER IT BECAUSE IT IS GENETIC DEFECT, MEANING THEY ARE BORN WITHOUT ONE. Anyway it is encouraging to see your thoughts. I do support Trump, I just wish somebody like me could take him off to one side and say "Mr. President, most of us do believe the 2020 Election was Stolen, in fact, as the Fraud and Influence Peddling keep coming out about Joe Biden, we are pretty damned sure the 2020 Election was stolen and there is film evidence of Ballots being "Tallied" after the 1130 Cutoff Time. But Sir, you don't have to give up your conviction to look ahead and Gain your Full Potential! We all appreciate you and we know you run a hell of a Good Country, so lets go after That and take care of the 2020 BS after you win in 2024. LIVE IN THE PRESENT SIR." "Byron Donalds (R-Tex) congressman has got it down and a talented speaker. He says FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS ON 2024. Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ga) is a congresswoman pushing for Impeachment of Biden, and won't let off the Throttle, Mr. President Trump, let her and others mount the Charge and use your Energy for Strategic Victories.

Jim and DeWitt - Donald Trump really has no ability or desire to set aside his blurts of words that can be so demeaning to himself and to the Presidency.  I get it that he is strong, not affraid to take on this upside down Democrat party and journalism, taken as a whole.  And that is a good thing!  But look where he is now . . . very probably the only candidate who would have a chance to lose to Joe Biden, as he has done once before.

I first became an avid follower of politics and current events in the 60's, as most of you did, I'm sure.  During that period there were two people that stood out as the smartest and best people, and I learned a lot from both of them.  You might say they were my political and journalistic role models.  I'm speaking of Barry Goldwater and William F. Buckley Jr.  And I heard a quote from Buckley just recently, where he said that when deciding on who to back in a political contest, you have to consider "who is the most solid conservative AND could be elected".  Words to live by still today.  I really think that any one of the Republicans running (except Trump) could destroy Joe Biden in a campaign he (Biden) would run again from his basement.  And from the electable Republicans, it's still a little hard to say who is the most solid conservative.  And so long as the nation is fixated on the Trump drama, we may never have a real discussion of the issues that are important.  Let the drama dissappear!!

What really is a CONSERVATIVE? or a LIBERAL?

Their seems to be different levels of being a conservative and thats not to odd since their are many levels of being a liberal

Would a conservative hide a Jewish family from the Nazis or would he be compelled t turn  them in.

Would a liberal let every one starve in order to provide for people who have come into the country .

Do conservatives welcome all religions and if not who not.

Do liberals stay away from relgion because religions don't give enough support.

What would you be if you smelled pot smoke coming from your neighbors yard...would you turn him in, join him for a tote, or mind your own business. ???

Are you a liberal if you would rather recieive your ballot in the mail vs standing in line at a precinct.

Are you a conservative if all voters should stand in line to vote

Hand count or machine counted.

Who was the last politician that was poor when he/she started and ended politics.

Would liberals have slaves or people who work for them at the least expensive cost.?

And finaly are all conservatives Republicans and all liberals Democrats

I believe in a living Constitution one that changes with the people who are alive and able to enter amendments.

How many black men died in the Boston Massacre....without researching it.

Is it true they burried men standing up.   If they were Americans.

Were Torries conservative because they believed they would always be English men or were Patriots liberal because they were Americans now and wanted a change in the government.

Dennis

TERM LIMITS.. And what Republican will say no to Trump.

Note for the future:

Cemeteries can make more space by burying peple standing up...Im quite sure it could double as a dam in wet areas of the countries as well as provide a better base for saving land and eliminating sink holes.

As a Catholic growing up I learned it was very important to be the first people out of church because you would be the first to leave in the parking que.

Did Nuns take offence to being called a nun since it implied you were going to get very little and usually you were stuck with everyone kids..I'm sure Protestants had the ladies that were stuck in the back with the kidowes.

Do Quakers really like puffed rice ceareal. or did Malt oH meal make people drunk if they waited to long to finish their cereal.

Is this still true? where their life their bud... I guess so if your a trans person.  And King of Beers is sorta a Porn statement as in that beer sure has a thick head,

It just dangerous when I have a little time....well back to reading  Diana Cabaldon "an echo in the bone"...I never saw so many words in over 800 pages... oh mine is signed .... jealous... I hear she lives in Scottsdale. I got mine on EBAY.

Is ruthless leaving a bathroom stall with no toilet paper and waiting around for someone to go in and hear them say oh shit.  maybe its just me.

Wonder what Trump will be found guilty of next.    Im going for no enchiretoes at taco bell...  the bastard.

So we have a very large Trucker shortage so why is 30,000 employee Yellow Freightline going out of business.  It's a combination of the Teamsters Union and Diesel prices.  While many Truckers are independent and not subjected to Union Wages and Benefits, Companies like Yellow cannot escape Union pressure.  UPS was able to surrender to the Union "FOR NOW" because they will pass the new contract price on to customers.  In other words, your UPS delivered packages are going to be more expensive!!  Bidenomics!!

Bill Kaehler. Perhaps we can agree to disagree. I feel that Trump is the ONLY one who can take on Biden in 2024. I admit that I don't care for some of the things he says and that he should stick more to the issues and not degrade others. But I think he has a better chance than the others. Forget about the trumped-up charges (pun intended). Rest assured that if DeSantis were the front-runner, the libs would go after him with the same vitriol. There are rumors that Biden may not be the Marxixs choice this time. What if Soros and the others decide to put someone like Gavin Newsom in his place? Do you think any of the others could go up against him? Donald Trump is the only one who can do the job like him or hate him.

DeWitt.  I'm putting you down as a "maybe" for Trumpsmiley.

P.S.  Until Trump starts talking about his ideas for the future of the country....the things we care about....I remain on the bubble.   To be honest, I think Biden might beat Trump because Trump invokes so much hatred from the other side.

Michael Kelly

A BASIC REALIZATION AND SHORING UP FOUNDATION  I have an opinion that I've held for some time, but it does not originate with me and is recognized and very recently reinforced by outside events that to me verify the truthfulness of my opinion.  When I see people who are diametrically opposed to the positions held by one another, it has been my observation that often the person or persons who are Correct and Right, will because of their inherent tendency to be Reasonable, soften their position and compromise with the other side, who, whether Right or Wrong, maintain a Force of Personality that manifests itself in strident insistence until they gain the day and win the argument doing damage to many with their "Victory", This most recently in my opinion manifested itself in the Enforced Governmental Shutdown of our entire Economy because of the Pandemic which had to do with an Insistence of the Rightfulness of opinion and sliencing of opposition than with real Scientific Findings. Adolph Hitler maintained his maniacal hold on the Germans preaching his hatred of brown-eyed peoples, until the gereral populace "gave in to the strength of his insistent Hatred over the Teachings of Religious Beliefs of the Majority of the German Populous" leading to WW II and the extermination of millions of people because of the Lack of Sustained Opposition from the German People.

Now I'm going to bring this down to why I went into the explanation above. Why is Donald J. Trump so as some say, "Universally Hated"??? No proof exists that he has murdered anyone. No one has ever said that He stole a Fortune from anyone? He has never told an outright Lie about himself, or anyone else! His failings are commonplace, and not at all harsh compared to others. Yet, immense Hatred is directed towards Him. Why? Most believe that a Man lesser Attitudinally constituted would fold up their Tent and go home. I think that is probably true, for I don't know of another Man who has the peculiar composition of Character to put up with and counter the personal attacks on themselves personally. Incredible endurance. Heart. Cowboys look for and feel themselves blessed to have a Horse that has "Heart" which to them, means a Horse that can go 70 miles a day, and the next day is still ready to go. The Apache Indians under Geronimo used to get an extra five miles out of their horses, and then camp where the Cavalry chasing them could see their fires at night but the cavalry horse couldn't go 100 yards more. This is the Endurace and Heart I speak of. Trump has it.

I think my Explanation is the most accurate. Someone (and I say Someone with very strong suspicions of who these people would be) wants him OUT OF HOLDING OFFICE FOR THEY FEAR HIM SO MUCH THEY TREMBLE AT THE MENTION OF HIS NAME IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT. HITLER AND OTHER HATE MONGERS TEACH US THAT IF YOU TELL A LIE OFTEN ENOUGH ABOUT SOMEONE YOU WILL CONVINCE A LARGE ENOUGH GROUP TO FOLLOW THE HATRED WITHOUT KNOWING WHY, JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE WHAT THEY PERCEIVE TO BE A SOCIALLY UNACCEPTABLE POSITION. TRANSLATION   THEY ARE IN FEAR OF THE NEGATIVE OPINIONS OF NEIGHBORS.

WE ARE SOCIAL BEINGS. NOT CREATED TO BE LONERS. A DETERMINED LIAR CAN BILK OR DECEIVE US WITH PERSISTENCE, OR CONVINCE OTHERS TO SHUN US IF WE DON'T GO ALONG WITH THE PERCEIVED MOST POPULAR OPINION.

THIS ELECTION IN 2024 IS AN ELECTION WHICH MAY DETERMINE THE FURTHER EXISTENCE OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC. DON'T LET HATRED OR BIAS DIVERT YOUR ATTENTION FROM WHAT SOMEONE ELSE SAID HEREIN, CHOOSE WHO IS GOING TO DO THEIR BEST TO PRESERVE OUR NATION AS A FREE, CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC. TAKE HEART BE DETERMINED MAKE YOUR CAMPFIRE BURN BRIGHTER AND ALWAYS CLOSER TO THE GOAL OF VICTORY.

Dennis re #10682-  Your post is thought provoking.  You have made a list of scenarios under which your question is . . . conservative or liberal?  If I (or anyone else for that matter) were to answer those questions it would be a pretty straight-forward and interesting exercise.  Each answer would be a product of personal values, experiences, morals and ideology.  Key word here is "personal".  So, personally, I would separate those I thought were political in nature from those I thought were more moralistic in nature.  And, as I posted earlier, my conservative political views are often (not always) driven from what I have experienced and learned from the likes of Goldwater, Buckley, Reagan, Sowell, Friedman and others. So, the candidate that most closely reflects my personal conservative views AND has the best chance of being elected, gets my support.
