Up is down and down is up.  So now the FDIC WILL insure all deposits for customers of SVB....and, apparently, that MAY be the new deal for all banks going forward.  Crazy!  Incredible convenient change of long standing rules.  That just turns banks loose to make speculative and dangerous investments knowing full well if what happened here (SVB) happens to them, at least the depositors won't hit the doors with torches and pitchforks.  SVB, a WOKE bank, didn't make a lot of conventional (regular) loans, I understand.  They did invest in LOTS of Gov't. Bonds and thanks to the Fed & Biden, those rates started going down headed for 4%.  To go along with that, SVB had to pay up to 5% for deposits from their Silicon Valley customers, and you can see how the bank turned itself upside down.  I still contend that this may be considered a government bailout of SVB, even though the money the FDIC will use to cover the deposits over $250K comes "from other banks contributing to the FDIC insurance pool."  NOTE:  93% of SVB's deposits were OVER $250K.  Where was the FDIC and the Fed?  Somebody should have been watching.  I think you may find out that the San Francisco Fed Chairman, Mary Daly, is a WOKE climate change activist and wasn't looking.  Give me a break.  If you think more fees to banks will not impact bank customers across the nation, you haven't been paying attention.  IF this is the NEW FDIC INSURANCE deal, the banks will definitely pass the extra cost on to you and me.  This was a face saving move by the FDIC and Biden administration and not calling it a bailout is just another tap dance.  FOLLOW THE MONEY!!  

SVB needs to be sold pronto like I said Sunday!

Mike L.  The SVB, et al situation is another indication of the Biden agenda which is....get everything we can under the control of the government and who knows how many others there out there like this?  That's what's scary.  SVB was the 18th largest bank in the nation.  That ain't a community bank my friend.  That's big.

What pisses me off is the utter mal-practice of the bank's WOKE management, board of directors and their supervisory agencies (FDIC, I guess and Fed).  I can almost see Joe Biden's face on the bodies of every one of SVB's management and board.  You did hear of the stock sales and bonuses paid, right?

In one breath you say Biden wants to control everything and in the next breath you blame the bank regulators for not catching the problems at SVB. The previous administration got rid of most of those pesky regulations put in place by Dodd-Franks.

The executives at SVB are not sleeping well tonight for two reasons. 1 They are under a microscope to undercover any irregularities and 2 all the stock sales and bonuses are subject to "clawbacks". I'm sure they huddled with their lawyers preparing for an onslaught of law suits coming their way.

It gives me NO great pleasure to say that my observations of the past few days regarding a potential banking crisis were correct.  Now, Credit Suisse, a huge European bank has lost over 25% of it's stock value practically overnight and Europe is extremely nervous right now.  Check out Wall Street this a.m.  SVB was just the first hint of what is to come and I fear more IS coming.  The "regulators" are all on Biden's team and, as I recall, the buck stops right on Biden's desk.

Now, the feckless Biden administration is calling the downing of one of our Predator drones in the Black Sea by Russia an "unprofessional" action.  I am NOT making this up.  One of our warplanes in international waters was brought down by the Russians.  This all started when Biden took office and he left Afghanistan with his tail between his legs and an untold number (maybe thousands) of Afghani allies have been tortured and murdered ON TOP OF THE DEAD BODIES of our 13 troops who were needlessly slaughtered as a result of our RETREAT.

Two additional things Jim--1. Credit Swiss went to the Saudis for more funding and the Saudis said no because it was to risky.  2. After Russia knocked down our Drone over International Waters, U.S. Air Force General James Hecker in his statement about the incident said, "It was Environmentally Unsound"!!  Can you imagine if FDR in his speech about the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor saying it was environmentally unsound that they attacked Pearl Harbor?  I bet this is the first time in history the environment has been brought up after a Military Attack?  Hey Lorts, gas was $2.25 a gallon when Trump left office.  I'll compliment Lyin Biden on gas prices when they go below $2.25.  I'm not sure what the Stock Market was when Trump left office but I will check!!  So the DOW is up 5% since Lyin Biden took office.  Inflation is up 6+%.  Congratulations, we're only losing 1% on our investments in the market!!

Lorts, By the way, when Trump took office the DOW was $20,915.  When he left office it was $34,715!!  That was a 60% increase.  Subtract 2.5 Inflation you get an increase of 57.5%!!  But Trump said mean things!!  I think Milley , Joint Chiefs Chair said in the news conference the depth of where the Drone is in the Red Sea 40,000 feet.  The deepest part of the Red Sea is less than 10,000 feet.  He must have gone to the Lyin Biden school of storytelling?  New Subject--The House Homeland Security Committee called in a cross representative group of Mexican Border Law Enforcement.  Not one Democrat showed up for their Congressional Responsibility.  I hope Liberals are proud that they are screwing up the United States by their Votes!!

Lorts-- I added to my last post while you were posting.  I also see the Ukrainian War as a European problem.  It's not that Ron De Santis is against helping Ukraine he just feels, as I do, that Europe should carry the heavy financial burden simply because stopping Russia should be MORE important to them.  It's a crying shame that your boy Obama did nothing when Putin took Crimea.  Now, all of a sudden you're a Hawk.  The best thing about us helping Ukraine is that we are bloodying Russias nose without putting our Military in jeopardy!!
