DeWitt and Mike K.  The Woke Rangers are gonna get you.

Bill Rihs.  I really liked Steve McQueen in Tom Horn (the movie).  One of my favorite movie lines of all time was when Tom was eating at a huge outdoor banquet at a rich cattleman's house and he ate lobster for the first time.  When the rancher asked how he liked it, Tom said...."Biggest Bug I Ever Ate."

But that's not the Tom Horn you're referring to, right?smiley

A Bank in Silicon Valley went under!!  Janet (Elmer Fudd) Yellen says everything is ok.  I wish I could trust her.  Good employment report but most jobs were low paying in the hospitality industry.  Wages were supposed to take a big jump but although they went up it was not nearly as much as inflation.  Lyin Biden was saying inflation is dropping but gas and other prices are rising.  Voodoo economics.  He had two women on his economic team standing behind him and both of them looked like "deer in the headlights"!!

Maybe Mike Lorts can give us his analysis of our economic conditions today since he sides with the liberals running the show. You can tell me how good things are today, but it's reality that makes sense to me. I see inflation continuing to erode wealth and spending power as a cancer on the middle and low income class. These huge unfunded dollar give away never do reach everyday hard working Americans. Somebody tell me that the 310 K new jobs report is anything but people retuning to work and low paying service level people. Everything Biden and his tax increases towards the higher income groups will do nothing for the lower income groups except stifle investments and increase what people play for goods and services. Isn't it amazing how well these politicians do year after year with their spending programs they implement after tax increases. We keep asking the questions as to why so many of them become very wealthy after becoming a legislator? We are such suckers for all their bullshit.

I don't read the Az. Republic newspaper but walked by today and saw todays paper on a counter. The headline was Biden's budget reduces the deficit buy 3+ plus trillion $s. Truth is dead in most media cable and paper.
Greg, Mike L. Is socially liberal but fiscally conservative. I too would be interested in his analysis. Lies from Biden's mouth continue to accelerate. Wonder why his Press Secretary lies too😎.

I want to clearly state my Belief in the subject matter of "Transgenderism". I think that they are covered in total by the Scripture in the New Testament, Book of Romans, Chapter 1, verses 18 through end of the Chapter. In that group of Verses you will find that God gives them up to their own Devices, and that He does not attempt to Strive with them any longer. So, if you are one of these then understand, Women, are not left without options in continuiing in their Sports Endeavors. I think a Privately Organized, with no Federal Funding whatsoever, Corporation could clearly and in a very short time completely Subsume the entire area of Women's Sports, and completely Bar forever any Male whatsoever from their activities. I believe it would quickly become a Multiple Millions of Dollars Business with overwhelming Private Business Funding, and that Major Networks would be fighting for First In Line to Broadcast their events, to the Exclusion of so called "Women's Sports" which would die on the vine because of the Tranny Invasion. This has already happened in areas of Education, Hillsdale College is one Fine Example. Keep Federal Funding Out and maintain the Superiority of True American Competition in Education and Sports. Remember, These Governments are composed of People we elect, and they are our Servants, we are not theirs. That's my Opinion, Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

REMINISCENSES

I watched a Star Trek Next Generation movie (again).  Picard vs. the Borg.  "Resistance is Futile" and all that.  The movie was made in 1996 (27 years ago) and it's still good.  Where did that quarter century go?  How can all those stars possibly have grown old?  How can I be 75?

I'm sad about the current state of our nation.  "Everyone" seems to be afraid to reach out OR "we're" afraid to speak as Americans and not enemies.  Cancel culture looms around every corner.  "We" vehemently disagree on so many things that we have resorted to name calling and not progress.  Take the Student Loan Forgiveness situation, for example.  Forgiving valid, legal promises to pay and putting the onus on many who did not go to college OR who paid off their debts is not right.

When I started in banking in the early 70's....pre-credit scoring....loan officers met face to face with their customers and applied what came to be known as the the Three "C's" of Credit:  Character (Have you been a good, honorable borrower in the past?)  Capacity (Simple math....do you make enough to pay the lender back considering all debts?) and Collateral (If appropriate for the loan requested, do you have adequate collateral to offer?).  The lender wanted to have a very reasonable chance to be paid back.  Logical, right?  Student Loan Forgiveness makes honor something to be ignored, in my opinion, yet the Biden administration wants to pursue what is an obvious "BRIBE" for votes.  Sad.  That's just one thing coming at us and future generations from the left.

I'm sorry to say, "IT IS MY OPINION" that the left has come up with their own 3 "C's" of government.  Collusion, Corruption and Censorship.  You.....ANYONE....please tell me if Resistance is Futile.  I don't think it is, but some major changes have to be made and it starts with voting out the radical left wing of the Democrat party.

SECURE THE BORDER!!  FOLLOW THE MONEY!!  AMERICA FIRST!!  ENFORCE THE LAW!!

Strange, isn't it that you don't find many women transgendering to men and insisting on playing in men's sports and using men's restrooms and locker rooms?

OK here's my take on inflation.

Biden is not responsible/at fault, for inflation. The entire world is struggling with runaway inflation. The US is actually doing the best at trying to curtail this problem. When the world was dealing with pandemic commerce came to a screeching halt. Supply lines dried up. When the world began to get the pandemic under control and commerce began to return we all found there were no supplies. It didn't matter what material businesses needed it was not available and the lead time was months away. Everything, everything was delayed months. If you were a motorcycle dealer that averaged 150 motorcycles annually and now we're lucky to get 5 a month yet  all of your overhead was based on 150 annually you had limited choices, shut down or raise prices in hopes your new margins will cover your overhead. INFLATION! Extrapolate that  over every business. The oil industry was faced with taking advantage of the new, higher price of oil or bringing back the production of all of the capped wells and produce more oil which would bring down the price of oil. It was a dilemma. Do what's best for bottom line or what's best for our country. The FED is raising interest rates in hopes it slow the economy and inflation. That's a bitter pill.

There's so much more because this problem is complex.

So Mike L what's your take on the trillion s of dollars Biden had to print to cover his unfunded give-aways? That unbelievable amount of worthless paper diluted the value of the dollar and subsequent buying power. Add inflation to this as well. We need to take a sharp pencil to this ridiculous $6.8 trillion budget Biden just proposed so it doesn't continue to exacerbate the financial issues even more.

So Lyin Biden isn't responsible for inflation?  What a joke!!  Look around the room you're sitting in while reading this post.  Everything you can see is based on oil.  It was either an oil based product or was delivered  by an oil driven vehicle.  It's so easy to forget what Lyin Biden said the first day he took office.  The "dumb ass" said to the Oil Industry, "I'm going to put y'all out of business!"  Yes the supply chain multiplied the problem but look around your room again.  Lyin Biden cancelled and closed down producing wells on Government land.  They gave leases but as my friend in the oil industry said, (and I repeat)they put so many restrictions on drilling that drilling wouldn't be profitable.  The Oil Executives are way smarter than our present Government.  Lyin Biden did this at exactly the worst time it could be done because our economy was just firing up again.  It seems that this idiot in the White House has started to realize his mistake and is loosening the restrictions.  I wonder if the oil companies will assist him?  I'm not sure they will.  Why would you want to help someone who says they're going to put you out of business?  Even if they are willing to help it will take months to get that oil on the market.

I see that Craig Harmon Cogelow, 71, passed away very recently.  I believe he was the brother of our classmate Carol (Cogelow) Ayers.  Carol hasn't joined the CHS site.  I remember her vividly and always thought she was very nice and of course,  pretty.  Of course, due to alphabetical seating, I sat close to her once or twice.  I don't know why I'm telling you this.  I think that because of two very recent deaths of personal friends, I felt compelled to read the obits and well, there it is.

TELL SOMEBODY THAT YOU LOVE THAT YOU DO.  YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU'LL BE CALLED HOME.

Greg,

Over 80% of our budget is comprised of SS, Medicare and defense. There are no politicians willing to cut those programs so we are left with less than 20% to cut. Of course the other side of this equation is to increase revenue. Biden laid out his budget which according to him would decrease the deficit by $2.9 trillion(over ten years) by eliminating tax breaks to the wealthy and raising rates to the wealthy. The ball is now in the hands of McCarthy.

We have been printing money for decades. Biden didn't start this process.

Jim,

I remember Carol well. She was very sweet and pretty. She was married to John Sullivan for a short time. I also remember and admired her intelligence.

Jim, we all should heed your wise words about showing our feelings to our loved ones.

I have nothing on Carol Cogelow since the 1985 reunion.  The last address I have is in Washington.

The argument about Inflation is a waste of time. We all should know, if we are honest with others, and most especially ourselves, that Inflation was triggered by Joe Biden's first day in the White House. When he deliberately cutoff production of oil, gas, diesel, and coal fuel sources, instintuted previously discarded Regulations concerning clean air, etc. etc. that were done away with in the Donald J. Trump administration so that the Economy could work at a better rate of efficciency. HE, BIDEN, SCREWED UP OUR ECONOMY ROYALLY, BECAUSE HE DISRUPTED THE ENTIRE PIVOTAL POINT OF OUR ECONOMY, A DEPENDABLE CHEAP ABUNDANCE OF FUEL SUPPLY. ITS THAT SIMPLE, AND DON'T TRY TO SNOW JOB ME WITH A BUNCH OF DELUSIONAL TALK ABOUT HOW IF TRUMP HAD NOT DONE THIS, OR HAD DONE THAT BLAH BLAH BLAH IT IS WASTED BREATH ON ME AND I WONDER IF YOUR NOT SO MENTALLY WARPED THAT YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH TRUTH. TIRED OF HEARING IT.

Now I have a Simple Solution to this Mounting Problem of Inflation that is, or is not a Recession depending on who is running their Yap at the time. Simply allow the oil, gas, diesel, and coal industries to produce their products at the rate and without the Regulations that biden has imposed for over 2 years plus. Try it for 3 months, be Honest about it, Really try it. What is everyone afraid of, .losing an election in 2024? If your a Public Minded Servant i.e. a Politician with the proper motivation, this should be no problem to you. Truth is best tasted without Garnish, without needless disguising in a plethora of verbiage. Stop dancing when there is no band and no floor and no one has the money to go to the dance-----they're too busy finding the money to buy food, gas, and utilities.

So Mike L what was the inflation when Trump left office? What is it now? I know you think Biden is blameless for where this country is today economically. If he is such a good POTUS and is doing everything possible to make this country run on all cylinders, then we should all be doing great. Look around my friend and tell me where I'm wrong.

Sunday Funnies-- 1. Interesting that when a heavily tattooed couple has a baby, the baby comes out blank.  Makes me wonder what God thinks of tattoos.  (This joke actually taught me how to spell "tattoos" correctly.  2. Sign on Door in Strip Mall.  "Push to open.  If that doesn't work, Pull to open.  If neither works try the first door to your left which is actually the entrance."  3. I've never seen anyone smiling while jogging-----that's all I need to know about it!  4.  Good judgment comes from experience.  Experience comes from poor judgement!  5.  A depressed family cat is standing out on the ledge of the 10th story of a building.  The family dog says, "I don't think you've thought this through.  You know you'll have to jump 9 times!"  (Who says cats are smarter then dogs?)   6. My Wife was having a glass of wine and asked me what I wanted for dinner.  I said, "How about some eggs and could you toast a couple English Muffins?"  She raised her glass and said, "Here's to English Muffins!"  7.  If you had to choose between drinking Wine and being skinny, which would you choose------------------Red or White?

YET ANOTHER EXAMPLE:

There was a Book signing Friday night in New York City for a book entitled Stolen Youth.  75 year old Steve Forbes was in attendance with the two young female authors, one of whom had her infant baby with her.  If interested, YOU look up the content of the book, because the signing was attacked by a "roving band of radical left wing Protestors" hurling wine at the authors and Forbes while screaming "Black Lives Matter" and calling the authors/attendees fascists and shouting homophobic slurs.  It wasn't clear what their "actual complaint" was, because it didn't seem to foot with the book's content.  It clearly was not a roving band of Conservative dissidents....at least that's My Opinion.

The content of the book doesn't matter, does it?  Look it up and you will find that the "words" screamed at the attendees had nothing to do with the content.  In fact, you might....just might... find that the book nailed it and it fit the protestors pretty well, even though many were not "youths."

This is clearly representative of the "Three C's" of the radical left's program that I have outlined before.  Here it is again:  COLLUSION, CORRUPTION AND CENSORSHIP.  Mike Lorts....Proud yet??

SECURE THE BORDER!!  FOLLOW THE MONEY!!  AMERICA FIRST!!  ENFORCE THE LAW!!

P.S.  PREPARE yourself for a BIG hit in the market tomorrow morning as a result of Silicon Valley Bank (SVP) going under.  Why do the Words Silicon Valley Bank make me want to say....YEP!??  Figures.  This is a HUGE deal that could have far reaching implications, both national and international!  Add that to all of Biden's destructive policies and you have the ingredients for a national catastrophe.  The only hope we have of calming the seas is that another big bank steps up to say (Tonight!) that they are going to buy SVP.  This is reminiscent of the Depression.  The Federal Deposit INSURANCE Corporation (FDIC) is shuttering their windows and barring their doors as we speak because they do NOT cover/insure ALL deposits and they may come under fire.  Remember history class and the run on banks???  I hope we can weather the storm.  We no doubt will, but it may take some time and the ride could be bumpy.

Good ones, as usual, Frank.

Desantis hasn't entered the ring for President yet, but I've been watching some of his speeches around the country. They sure sound like campaign speeches to me. In order to stop the threats to our country from those like Obrador, Putin, Xi, and others, we need a STRONG leader in the White House like we had before. But, unfortunately, the Communist Biden administration has laid everything Trump did to waste.

Jim, you are correct on all points. The stock market was already taking a big hit Friday by the close.

Do you all realize that Katie Hobbs vetoed the bill that no longer allows the teaching of CRT in our schools? This pretty much tells us all where she is coming from. I guess the liberals in the state who voted for this Marxist agrees that they want their children indoctrinated rather than what should really be taught in schools. All parents need to question their school children daily what the teachers tried to teach, so they can do their best to reverse this garbage. Is it any wonder parents are doing their best to send their kids to private schools?

03/12/23 12:06 PM #9455

Mike Lorts

Greg,

I cautiously disagree with that world renowned economist, Michael Kelly, who summed up the cause of inflation. Biden did it.
The recovery from the pandemic was much stronger than anyone anticipated which quickly devoured the entire supply chain. This caused worldwide shortages of everything. This led to rabidly increasing prices. My question to MK is how did Biden cause the world to spiral into a runaway inflationary. Biden did navigate the US to have the lowest inflation rate.

Just like Biden has not taken even one of your arsenal, he has not capped one oil well. During the financial crisis and continuing through the pandemic demand shrank severely which caused oil companies to cap wells in hopes that it would curb plummeting prices. When demand surged after the pandemic was under control the oil companies chose to not reopen those capped wells because reopening those wells would cause the price to drop.
