Rowle Simmons

Rowle P. Simmons, a dedicated public servant and beloved member of the Prescott, Arizona community, passed away in Durango, Colorado, at the age of 78. Known for his steadfast leadership, community service, and unwavering dedication to the people of Yavapai County, Rowle leaves behind a lasting legacy of commitment and progress.

Born in Avon, Illinois, on Jan. 12, 1947, Rowle moved to Arizona at the age of 12 and later made Prescott his home in 1977. He earned a degree in business administration from Northern Arizona University and built a successful career in electronic communications, owning and operating The Communications Center, Tele-Page, and The Alarm Connection for nearly 40 years.

Rowle’s passion for service led him into public office, where he served three consecutive terms as the Mayor of Prescott from 2001 to 2007. His leadership was instrumental in strengthening regional cooperation and fostering growth in the community. Under his tenure, the city saw major improvements, including the construction of the Granite Street Parking Garage, renovations to the library, and the establishment of the Adult Center — named in his honor.

Following his time as mayor, Rowle continued his service as a Yavapai County Supervisor from 2013 to 2020. His work extended beyond politics, as he was actively involved in organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Prescott Rotary Club, the Central Yavapai Hospital District, and the Prescott Chamber of Commerce.

Rowle was known for his warm spirit, sense of humor, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Affectionately referred to as one of “Prescott’s Good Ol’ Boys,” he was a dedicated leader who worked tirelessly to make his community a better place.

He is survived by his loving family, his wife of 32 years Christa, daughters LaVone Simmons (Roger Deal), Monica Parker (Benjamin), son Joseph Prekup (Heather); and grandchildren Spencer, Camden, Travis, Chamberlain and Cheyenne.

He will be remembered by his dear friends, and the countless individuals whose lives he touched through his service. His impact on Prescott and Yavapai County will be felt for generations to come.

A celebration of Rowle’s life will be held on July 19, 2:00 p.m., at American Lutheran Church, with a reception immediately following at the Rowle P. Simmons Community Center. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Yavapai County Humane Society (1625 Sundog Ranch Rd., Prescott, AZ 86301, Attn. Loree).
