Is this true? I remember a Linda Sue Riskas from the Lew King Ranger Show (kind of a talent show) on TV in the 50's. You can google it. She was a little star then...singing and dancing as I recall. Wayne and Jerry Newton were on the show too. She was the first girl I ever called (everybody was in the phone book then) because I was "in love" with her. I wonder if this is the same person. To my memory, the phone call was very sweet even though I was mortified/nervous/intimidated. Her family used to live on the North side of Camelback Rd. around 36th St. I think. I hope it's not really "my" Linda Sue Riskas but if it is, I would be interested in any other comments. Did not know her at Camelback but wish I did. "The" Linda Sue Riskas is part of Arizona history from a time that seems to have been a much happier and kinder period. Too damned bad people have to grow old....right?
Jim, yes, sorry to say this was the Linda Sue Riskas you knew from the Lew King Ranger show. One of my friends from college who knew her from grade school kept up with her and her family through the years and when Linda died, my friend called to let me know. She was a real talent and a good person.
Her mom and brother lived in the Camelback house for decades but sold it after Linda and her mom passed. I didn't know her well but we saw each other a couple of times in our twenties.
I don't know when this was posted but I did know Linda had passed away several years ago after speaking to her ex husband Bob Cantwell. She and my wife Jinny were roommates in 1969 when I met Jinny. She was at our wedding in San Francisco. I was at her home on Camelback several times in high school. She was a lovely girl and I am saddened by her passing.
Steve Tilley, who is living in Scotland, sent me a note regarding Linda that pointed out Linda's role on the Lew KIng Ranger Show. I am attaching the links he sent regarding her family and the scholarship she received to ASU.
Thinking about you again today, Linda. You were really something when you were a kid. Sorry I lost track of you. You ARE missed. These days I think Heaven's residents could use a smile and you are just the person for the job. Rest in Peace little star.
