John Charles "Charlie" MacDonald Jr. 62, of Tampa, departed this life Thursday, July 30, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Sandy MacDonald; brother, Boyce MacDonald; three nieces, Jessica, Jocelyn and Nikki; and two nephews, Jeff and Justin; longtime family friends, Chuck, Dawn, and Ryan; and godson, John Michael. Charlie was full of fun, life and love and will be greatly missed by the lives he touched. Charlie' s career spanned a life in property management and commercial real estate. Charlie was serving in civic and community activities within the Carrollwood area. He loved sports and was an avid golfer. The family will have a celebration of life 10 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2009, at Clearwater Community Church, 2897 Belcher Road, Dunedin, FL 34698. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Tampa Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 172056, Tampa, FL 33672.

I had the opportunity to meet Charlie in gym class our Freshman year and he remained a friend through sports, as a roommate prior to our first marriages and after we both had gotten a divorce. You could always depend on Charlie for support and laugh. One of the hardest things I have ever done was to get up and talk about Charlie at his funeral service.
What it did for me was to relive a great friendship with a great person!! We miss you "big guy"!!
