I am saddened to share that Ernie Apodaca, one of our classmates, and my life long friend passed away unexpectedly on December 29, 2024. Ernie is predeceased by his wife Connie (class of 66), survived by his daughters, Joni, Nicole and Theresa, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a large extended family and his wife, Marie. Ernie was a native Arizonian born in Phoenix. He was a true craftsman and was owner of a very successful machine shop in Phoenix. He loved the Arizona outdoors being a hunter and fisherman. He was a true American patriot. He will be missed by his family, friends and his company's team members.

Ernie was a very good friend and a large part of Rusty and my life. We have so many memories of our families growing up together, our camping trips and hunting trips were the greatest memories we shared together. Our friendship goes all the way to when he and Connie were firist married. He came to our house and Connie was on the back of his motorcycle which was the first time I met her, but we go back even farther as Ernie, Rusty and I attended Lafayette and Ernie played the trumpet in the band and I was trying to twirl a baton. We became very good friends and raised our kids and shared each others families.
There will always be a big hole in our hearts that he and Connie filled. So Thank You Ernie for the memories and love that we shared.Till we meet again.

Sorry to hear about Ernie, Thom. I didn't have much in common with him when we got older, but I definitely had a great time with a bunch of crazy guys when I move down here from northern Calif. in my sophomore year. You and Ernie, and Larry, and Chuck Evans and Steve Shockey were those "biker dudes" (mostly Indians as I remember) that I hung out with at the old snack bar!. Seems like yesterday.

Wow. Did Ernie ever look like someone out of Central Casting. I'll just bet he was a real firecracker. It sounds like he had a good life and was a good man. That puts him in good stead with God. I wish I had known him. RIP Ernie. You're NOT forgotten.
