Dick Peffley

Richard "Dick" Kay Peffley, 71, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on September 21, 2018 surrounded by his family. Richard was born June 13, 1947 in Phoenix, AZ to Richard N. and Elizabeth Peffley. He was the first of three boys and he was a second generation native. After graduation from Camelback High School he enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Sargo, which was a nuclear submarine. He met Janice Boot and the two were married on December 14, 1974. They were married for 41 years. After 8 years Richard lost his brother and sister-in-law. We adopted their son Christopher. Richard was employed by R. C. Lurie Co. for approximately 40 years. He worked in quotations before he retired in 2010. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and going to the cabin in Payson. After retirement he developed congestive heart failure and kidney and liver problems which caused him to slow down and stay in town. Richard is survived by his wife, Janice, son, Christopher (Michelle), three grandchildren, Emily, Kennedi-Rae, and Haylee-Rae, all of whom he loved and enjoyed. He also had 3 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clark and Keith. A celebration service will be held at Phoenix Christian Reformed Church located at 2438 E. Earll Dr. in Phoenix, AZ on Thursday September 27, 2018 at 11 AM. One of Richard's final requests was for no flowers, but instead donations be made to Phoenix Christian School PreK-8th, located at 2425 N 26th St, Phoenix, AZ 85008.

Rest in peace my friend or at least until I get their, and we can raise some more active peace.

I haven’t conversed with Dick in many years but I have vivid memories of arriving at Squaw Peak and his kindness and friendship. There are people who are inherently good and he was one of them. I hope his passing was peaceful.

I can always remember playing sports with Dick and the endless smile that made playing with him always a great experience!  We will miss that smile!
